Title: Anyone ever divert/spray distributor drive gear from screw in oil galley plug?

Seems like oil spray mist/stream aimed right at distributor & cam gear interface particularly when running steel roller cams could reduce potential wear .

Yes,
I drilled a small hole in mine to mist the gear. Not sure it's doing anything, but surely can't hurt.

BB,  I'm sure you are aware that the distributor gear is oiled from behind the Cam Thrust Plate bolt which is feed from the #1 cam bearing. That is why you have to be careful of the length bolt you use there (don't want to block that hole, hence oil supply)
I guess you could drill a rather small hole in the lifter galley plug, it would bleed off any air in there.

I don't recall any of the "special oiling" behind the Cam Thrust Plate bolt but recall the "relieved" section in the thrust plate. Those sure are some unique "bolts" I've found originals with large Phillips Heads and Allen Heads. I'll check it out.

My mistake BB.  That oil coming from the cam bearing is feeding the distributors lower guide bushing/bore. The Philips round head bolts I believe are used to clear the back of the timing gear, I know a hex head interferes.  You still need to be careful with the length of the bolt especially when upgrading to thrust plate.    Sorry for that misinfo.
