Title: Powder coating question

I'm thinking about getting a do it yourself powder coating kit for stuff around here and since the wife needs a new stove anyway.......... ;D
  I was looking at the finned Ed valve covers in the shop, and they've got some gouges on the fins. Is there such a thing as "bondo" to be used under powder coating?  Thanks, Travis

Sorry but no. If you plan to powder coat those gouged covers, you'll need to skip the Bondo and weld them instead, then finish grind them before the powder coat step instead.

Actually there is...My Harley friends have been useing JB Weld...You have to use the slow cure.You can not use the fast cure 5 min stuff.I asked a local powdercoater if he knew of this and he said yes and it does work...I have not personally done it.You may want to check with your local coaters.......Cory

Wow, another unexpected use for JB Weld!  That stuff is almost as good as duct tape...

That's awesome. I'll look into that. If it holds up, it would make a cosmetic repair under powder coat so much easier.  Thanks, Travis.
