What am I missing, have these heads been out for a while? I never heard of them.

They have been discussed a couple of times and are basically considered over-seas knockoffs of the Edelbrock head. Notice the "Assembled in USA", but nowhere does it say "Made". I don't know specifically when they came out but I first started seeing them about a year ago. Heat treatment has been the issue in question because as far as I know nobody can find any info about it.

According to the ad blurb it calls A356 T6.
A356 is the alloy mix and T6 is the heat treatment.
Which is standardish for this type of casting.
The T6 is an oven bake for X hours and then a water quench.
Not that hard to do the heat treatment.
If anything the purity of the mix would be the problem.
Skanky aluminum does not cast well. ;)
An easy test to see how hard they are.
Tempting prices though.

For $100-200 cost savings compared to Edelbrocks you get a Chinese casting of unknowable origins, engineering, and quality.
They appear to be the same "Steven's" heads we've seen making the rounds.
Edelbrock knock offs without the quality control and no performance advantage.
That's about darn near almost 9%.... Seems like a big risk to take for a modest financial reward.

They sent me a set to check out. Look exactly like edelbrocks.

Where are BBM heads and blocks cast ? I'm sure there's a thread and you guys have been over that. Where are the side oiler garage blocks cast ?

An easy test to see how hard they are.
Still wouldn't trust them. My experience buying out of China (tier 1 OEM supplier) says that just because one part is 'XX' doesn't mean the next one or next 5000 will be.

At least the Chevy stuff and what not before use to be Patriot.
Talked with the owner Jason (I do believe that's his name) about those heads and the others. Yes they come from Stevens as mentioned above. Supposedly Jason does the rest the stuff all in house. Just thought I'd share the info

I have three fe engines running with the Pro Maxx heads. I get just bare castings from Jason and built them. The casting its self is very smooth looks good. The casting is hard i have ported on them its a hard cut.

aren't you better running springs that are close to coil bind to help control harmonics?

.050-.060 is the norm. Their specs are merely stating that the install height is set for a .700" lift @the valve.

I think I have a couple of .660" HR's out there, but no .700"s.....
