I was checking for a "new" 427 block. The BBM site lists "out of stock" . I know they check this site so maybe someone will have an idea when they will have more. It is good to see that there is that much demand...the old FE is rising again!
-
how about side oiler garage ? what happened to there stuff ? haven't heard much about that lately, do they exist ? have a web site or anything ? thought that was suppose to be the US block .
-
Sideoiler Garage is in operation but really only available thru Survival motorsports. No iron blocks at this time. Barry may see this an comment. They are a nice casting.
-
Talked to Doug today.
He expects new blocks Jan/Feb.
-
Well I guess I wait! Thanks for the info.
-
I've been way crazy over the top busy (at least a couple interesting, very challenging, but non-FE projects). We can get aluminum Sideoiler blocks in a fairly short timeframe - several are in machining - but no iron at this time.
-
I remember the room full of BBM blocks looked like hundreds I guess there moving along nicely
-
Is Jim (Dove) still doing any blocks. I know at one point quite a few years ago he was only doing aluminum .
-
You might check with Robert Pond and see if he has any in stock.
We used one of his on my Tunnel Port project.

a friend of mine ordered one of those dove aluminum blocks at least 10 years ago and he is still waiting. not beating up dove. but not fast either

I feel your pain. Took me two years to get a set of heads back in early 2000's. Seems the big parts were few and far between. If you were in the click you could get a few things a bit quicker. Never had any prob getting any of the smaller parts though, rocker arms and such. Even a few of the intakes were actually available a few times. I think Jim is a good guy and did a lot to keep the FE alive, just seems he didn't have the resources to keep up with any kind of demand..

I have ten BBM blocks that are not spoken for at this time. Prefer to sell them in engine jobs, but would consider selling a fully machined and prepped block. Just info...not an ad.

Blair's having 10 BBM blocks has got to be a fable - I don't know which fable fits but I assure you all there's one out there!

QikBBstang ???TF
Some FE members are ahead of the pack, or as my wife says "the m asses"
Not hard for me to believe he might have picked up 10 or more.

BB where do you think all those blocks in the pictures went?
Maybe to the guys who build FE engines for a living? ::)
-
I got 10 FE blocks, well most are boat anchors.. I did just score 2 intake to oil pan 391's from a couple early 70's school bus's . gonna pick um up Thanksgiving weekend. Hoping maybe at least one block is good..
-
I met up with Blair when he was on his journey to pick up those blocks. I tried to make more room for him by taking one of his SS motors off his hands. Unfortunately, just before he said "Ok", he caught on to my ploy. DAMN!! Those Tennessee people are smarter than you think ;)

CJShaker: are those ETIII wheels on the rear of your car?
If not what wheel are they?

They are ET Wheels, but they are called 5 Window High Angle. Located on this page... http://www.performanceplustire.com/buy-wheels-online/et-wheels
The fronts are ET's also. They're a match to the old rims used on many funny cars back in the late '60s, early '70s. In fact I chose them both because of these cars, but Ohio George also ran them on his Malco Gasser.

Not uncommon for the manufacturer to be out of stock, but dealers have them on the shelf. And let's not forget that Blair is also the one who finishes the BBM complete heads they sell. A friend of mine bought a set from BBM and they were shipped directly from Blair in TN, and boy were they nice.
-
Doug when you stated your wheels were ET's I cringed and jumped to the link to see if you were cursed with ET Uni-Lugs and your not. They are great looking!
My only ETs were Uni-Lugs. I'd torque em on, drive 50 miles and had to re-torque them and ditto... My Uni-Lugs were the alum centers in steel with a torque thrust look. They weighed more than stock Ford steel rims and were overly offset so fender/tire scrape was a problem. They had a nasty habit of self-loosening. The only good thing was one time at the big speed-shop in town on the clearance table I found lugs & Uni-Lugs for $1.00/set. LOL also bought one of those cool see-through Ford distributor caps for $1 Thanks to eBay I actually got good money for the Uni-Lugs.

Blair, Do you do the CNC port work too, or do you get the castings ready to go for final assembly? I know BBM gives Colvert the credit for the CNC profile, but I was curious who actually does the work. For future reference, where does one order the heads, BBM, Blair, Colvert, Kuntz??
-
You can order them directly from BBM.

Or he builds a lot of FE's in his line of work and knows that by taking a risk to have a stock of FE blocks on hand, he can have a quicker turn around time on builds and probably try to get a volume discount, as well as a priority order at BBM. So in the long run, he makes a slightly better profit and by having a decent number of block by a specific company, anyone looking for that specific block can go to him for it. Also, bulk shipping on that many blocks could decrease the average cost to ship each block, if done correctly. Point is, I bet the choice to order a large number of engine blocks was dictated by business choices.

That's a lot of assumptions that you're making on behalf of a respected forum member. Maybe you missed the part I posted about meeting him on his way to pick up BBM parts? Anyway, I think Barry, Blair and Brents business dealings are best left to them and not "guessed" about publicly.
