Title: intake adapter to cleveland gasket

I need to change the adapter gasket since its leaking, I have the gasket for the adapter to heads, but not the 351C gasket. would sealant work there instead of a gasket. no one here can get me a gasket till next week.

I took the back plate off and theres coolant in the valley.. the gasket ripped when I installed the adapter ::) but used it anyways. now its bugging me as its smoking when I took it for a rip up the road last weekend and checked plugs, all good burn, not oily, so pulled the plate. coolant puddles in the valley

Myself, id get a sheet or roll of gray gasket material atleast and make a couple gaskets then use "a little" sealant.  Jmo.

There should not be any water coming from the cleveland intake.  If you have water, then it is coming from either the head gasket, or the adapter/intake gasket.  There is no water to the cleveland intake.  That is the purpose of using the adapter/cleveland intake, easy removal without draining the water to access the lifter galley.   Upon reading your post again, yes, you could use a sealant if you apply it evenly.   Joe-JDC

yes, thought I said the adapter gasket was leaking,, I tried sourcing a 351c gasket and no one has them in stock,, this is a chev/dodge town like most are lol..

I will see if I can get some sealant from work :)

I used the Mr. Gasket 202A when I designed the intake adapter, so I'd use that gasket if possible.  Sealer on both sides of both water openings on each gasket, and you should be good to go.  If you get a different gasket, and it has a leak slot embossed or cut into it, match it up with the intake adapter first to make sure that the leak slot doesn't overlap the water jacket opening.  I've seen one or two gaskets that are close, and if the gasket moves any during installation it might cause a leak.  You can fill the leak slot with sealer to prevent this problem if you are concerned about it - Jay

I got the adapter gasket already, adapters on. pick up the Cleveland gasket in the morning,, then fire it back up :)
