Title: One wire alternator and cut off switch doesn't work.
Post by: 57 lima bean on October 26, 2015, 07:17:54 PM
I read to install the alternator wire to the positive(battery)side of the switch, but that makes no sense as this would keep the field hot.Have I been licking to many toads?

I had to run mine through a relay. The one wire was drawing power when it wasn't running? After the relay I never had a problem.

put the positive battery cable (that runs to starter relay) and one wire alt both  on one post of kill switch,  the other post put your battery positive post wire to it.

If its really a one wire alternator, it should have an internal voltage regulator that will cycle the field coil in the alternator on and off as required.  So, connecting the wire to an ignition-hot circuit would be correct.

Maybe it just doesn't matter as the car is to slow to require it.
