Is this what some of the pro's do these days?

Whoever did it must not realize the thrust surface of the crank isn't there.
-
How long has that been running that way?
-
Every once in awhile someone comes along who helps a non-pro like myself understand, you aren't as much a rookie builder as you may think.
-
Isn't the thrust surface on a Chevrolet crank on the #5 main? If so it would seem like a Chevy engine builder got his hands on that FE, and made a serious error...
-
I got it on a trade without the rotating assembly. Don't know how long it ran with these bearings but the block is a worn .030 over 352.

I was almost 13 when I learned how to use a file and Emory cloth. Dad turned his back and I beat out the 360's thrust bearing with a hammer.

That and the rear main seal should be off set 3/8" and never lined up with the parting line of the cap/ block. LOL
-
Yes, it does as Jay said look like a 1st gen. SBC bearing. Wow, and here I thought Jasper Engines, the bane of rebuilders, was on the loose again! ;)

Nut to mention that's the top bearing in the cap. No way it ran like that. The oil singer on the crank has no where to go.
