A Ford drag racing legend has passed:

For many more images, Google "Hubert Platt"

I saw him match-race the altered Mustang at Lions in Long Beach back in the day.  The crowd went wild!

I read this link last nite and am bummed out.  Mr platt sure seemed like a class act, and a racing legend. (I never met him)  I seen that he showed up to the most recent fe drag  race at beaver springs just this past april.  for those of you guys that met him at that event could we here comments on mr platt.

Wish I had a picture of my 66 Cyclone from the early 1980s, which featured headers that came forward and dumped in front of the front wheels.  My pal JC called them the "Hubert Platt Exhaust System", because Hubert did the same thing on at least one of his cars.  Think of the thousands of Ford enthusiasts, just like me, who emulated what Hubert did.  He left quite a legacy and we will miss him; RIP Hubert.

I also was at Lions Drag Strip in the 60s for that match race, Hubert and Phil Bonner put on a show that I will never forget. Good memories of good men.
