Recommendations on main bearings. What do you guys like to use for a all out race engine. Are there any "P" series bearings available for the fe ?.
-
Aftermarket block or factory block? What kind of racing?
I've used a little of everything. The FM bearings are nice and will drop right in. If you have an aftermarket block that uses a Cleveland bearing, and you use something like a Clevite, ACL, or King, you will most likely have to cut the thrust bearing flange down.
I use a lot of FM bearings, but I also build engines where I use coated bearings and usually reach for the Clevite HK series stuff.

I've had good luck with the Federal Mogul 125M bearings, with the 3/4 oil groove.

Factory block. Drag racing.
Was suprised king didnt make a performance bearing for the fe.
I been useing the federal mogul bearings with good luck but was just wondering about other options and what others think.
With the scat crank I have had to clearance the thrust bearings anyway to get any end play at all. I normally shoot for .005 .
More or less end play for a hard hitting jerico ? ?

Going through the dyno sheets here I did notice the majority used the fm 125m so I guess ill stick with that. I was just wondering.
Sometimes I tend to over think things.. uggh.. :-\

Those darn Dyno sheets were a heck of a good idea.
Really helps out us guys that don't put an engine together everyday.

I read in a old network 54 form where Barry mentioned that there was no issue cutting the tangs off the Cleveland main bearings to use in a factory block. If this is true i could possibly use the king xp main bearings. I'm using pro-gram billet main caps that have both set of tang registers anyway so id just have to do the block side ?
Again I'm just thinking and wondering and prob over thinking and I'm sure the FM 125m are just fine but I been using the king xp rod bearings..

You can do it that way. However, for a drag race motor, the FM bearings are perfectly fine.

Thanks for the input guys.
