This is a vintage Jerico.
Scot at Jerico said "that thing is so old I don't even have a record of it". hmmm
It is a very early DR 4.
I don't really know much history on it but it must have sat around for a long time.
It shows only light usage.
Good drag gear set though.
1st 3.08
2nd 1.96
3rd 1.40
4th 1
18 spine input shaft.
I will disassemble and inspect and give it a good cleaning and use it.
And a vintage Long gate. 8)

Wow, looks great inside.
Did you pick that up recently to back up your other'n?
-
Yes, it just came into my paws.
I may take my other one out and slip this in the Fairlane.
And then use the heavy duty one in my Stang someday.
-
Nice Howie were did you get that beauty. Is the one that you got from me not as heavy duty as the newer ones
-
Thanks Joe!
Looks great.
A new Jerico DR4 R4 is like a super heavy duty gear box.
My older Jerico DR4 R2 is a heavy duty.
And this one DR4 is a serious duty up grade from a Top Loader.
I don't make enough HP to even dent any of them. ::)
My DR4 R2

Cool! But I'd add some fluid and turn it over by hand to see if all is smooth....rather than strip it down. Drain same and check the fluid. JMO!
-
They actually come apart pretty easy.
And the Top and Bottom loaders are even easier than the new ones.
I will most likely put fresh bearings in and do a couple of other little mods I've learned
about Jericos.

I don't know about Jericos, are they modeled off of the toploader? They look very similar.
-
NICE find Howie , it looks great from the pics and i agree to give it an inspection .. Bud

The very first Jericos look like the first one in the pictures.
It is more of a box type and has some features of the Top loader.
The later versions look a lot like Top Loaders on steroids.
The DR4 R4 has wider gears about 1/8" wider.
Then you can get into ultra super duty with mid plate.
Then you can do a Gear Venders.
Then you can get into full custom 5 speeds and then I start thinking I'll...
How much ya wana spend... :P

Nice. That thing looks brand spanking new on the gears! Can you still get parts for it?
When you go through it and do the mods, you should make a thread in the members projects area.
-
I'd like to see a member's projects thread on that too. But.... I'd way sooner see a thread in drew's "free stuff for people that don't want to buy anything " 8) Btw, if you do put it there I'll take it!

Parts are hit and miss for it. It will live out the rest of it's life with me in my small machine shop
and I'm pretty crafty when it comes to gear boxes. ;)
