I was thinking about replacing the screw in steel plugs with aluminum plugs. Getting the crank cleaned up and thinking maybe lightening up a little.
Pro's and con's? Am I messin up?

It will change the balance....

I sorry Brent I didn’t mention it will be a .010 grind with new pistons and rods so a balance is definitely in order, was just wondering about dissimilar metals. More or less figured since I’m in there, maybe a plug change wouldn’t hurt. Maybe I’m over thinking this.
Still appreciate the reply.

Not sure about that one. I normally remove the factory plugs and replace them with ones I buy from McMaster Carr. They have a thread locking compound on them.

I once had an 'XE' engine that was factory-born as a "Boss 327" during the later stages of the original SCCA Trans-Am series. The crank was a forging with hollow throws. The plugs were aluminum, sealed with 'O' rings and held in with Spira-Locks. It seemed to me to be a good idea at that time and I've never seen anything that'd change my mind.
