Title: Motor Mounts
Post by: hyper64 on August 24, 2015, 07:43:59 AM

Need a little help figuring out this mounting problem. I have a 1964 block with the vertical mounting bosses. I want to put it into a 1967 Fairlane. I have a set of 1966-69 FE frame mounts and rubber insulator mounts. It appears the insulators will not line up with the motor bosses. Will insulators from an earlier car, like a 1964 Galaxie, work or does anyone have a fix for this situation.

 Thanks, Jim M

In about 1969 I put a '63 427 into my '67 Cougar XR7 GT. It's been so long ago I don't remember in minute detail, but I used the mounts off the factory 390 to install the 427. I DIDN'T use any intermediate plate. I may have had to slot a hole or even, perhaps, drill one but everything worked OK.

Ken, it kind of depends on the car and motor mount style. I don't recall what the Fairlane uses, but my truck mounts only used the front 2 holes, so some sort of plate was necessary.

I posted these pics to give him an idea if it was necessary for him to make some.
