This is FE related because I'm talking about it for the use on Jays adapter.
Does anyone have one to weigh or know the rough weight of a Cleveland tunnel ram unit? Jay, do you still have that one you used in your mock ups, or have the weight recorded?
I'm trying to figure the total weight of the adapter and intake. When I weighed the adapter, I get 28 lbs even.

Not sure myself. I can tell you my Dove T-Ram weighs in at 35lbs or so. I do love that adapter I got from Jay! Very nice work of art! It will go on the boat LOL
-
Been putting off ordering mine till needed.
Maybe I'll get it and weigh it.
-
I picked up a used Offy 2-4v tunnel ram to go with my adapter, but I don't have anything accurate to weigh it on. Trying it on the bathroom scale showed 20 pounds.
-
Thanks, Wes and Kevin. 35 on the Dove FE would seem about right if the Cleveland weighs about 20.
Marc, hurry up and get that intake so you can weigh it for me ;)

Your welcome Doug. Think the adapert has some weight to it ... I will have to put it on the scale and see. I don't remember LOL

When weighing things that are heavy, but hard to get on a scale by itself, weigh yourself, and then pick up the item and reweigh yourself with item, subtract difference, and you will have the weight of the item. Works for things like intake manifolds, or boxes to be shipped. Joe-JDC

That's exactly what I did Joe, I'm just not real confident on the accuracy of my scale, but good advice.

Wes, like I mentioned in the original post, I weighed my adapter on some digital flat scales and got 28lbs. That's why I asked about the tunnel ram itself, to combine them and get a total weight.
There's no such thing as a lightweight cast FE intake, iron or aluminum. I can see the advantage of a sheetmetal intake, but lawdy them things are exPENsive!

The lightest FE intake I have had in my hands is the Streetmaster after it is ported. The one I ported for Jay's dyno test in his book made the most torque of all the 4V intakes, and only 18 hp less than the Victor. It is one of the lowest intakes, also. I think my intake only weighs about 14 lbs. It is definitely a keeper for me. Joe-JDC

That's super light! It would be interesting to see the weight of a fully dressed all aluminum FE with components that are specifically chosen for weight considerations. My SOG block is an extra 50lbs over factory, so I'm trying to consider all ways of offsetting that weight.
-
Doug, I thought it was around 30lbs but didn't want to say that... Just incase I was wrong here. LOL I bought a Torquer (not a torquer II) 351C intake. I think it will work better then the Street Master in stock form. I could be wrong on that. But from the looks of it.... One would think it will do better.

I seen a sheet metal intake years ago that resembled a street dominator. It was all hand formed sheet metal aluminum. If I remember correctly it had medium riser ports. Crude looking but very cool. Couldn't have weighed more than 10 or 12 pounds.

I got mine off eBay a couple years back, unused from a private seller. The box weight on the tag was 25 lbs. I'll be doing what you're doing. However, you have an actual car while I have a wooden horsey I stole from an abandoned amusement park. Giddyup?

Doug, I bought the tunnel ram that Jay had listed I will weigh it today and let you know. I already cut it to fit the adapter but kept the pieces from it , so I will get both weights and the weight with it on the adapter. Garry

Doug, I weighed the Cleveland tunnel ram with the carbs bolted to it. It comes in at 45lbs! I was a bit surprised but it is a stout piece when assembled. With Jay`s adapter I see it around 75lbs ish. Still an awsume piece under the hood!

Thanks! That was exactly the information I was looking for.
