Title: 2015 DW entry list
Post by: AlanCasida on August 17, 2015, 10:16:52 PM
I can't believe they misspelled Galaxie.  ::)

Well, Freiburger is a Mopar guy and almost everyone else is loyal to the bowtie, so it really doesn't surprise me too much. Yes, it is kind of pathetic though. ::) At least they spelled your name right, so there's that.....

This is the first time I've seen them release the names of the participants prior to the event.  Going down the list it brings back some great memories, and I can't wait to get back to the track and see some of those guys.  Some notes on the participants:

Jeff Lutz, last year's Unlimited winner with his 57 Chevy, is bringing that car, but also bringing a Honda Civic to run in Unlimited??  WTF???

Larry Larson is signed up to bring his 5 second capable truck, but rumors have been swirling that he may bow out this year.  There's a big to-do on Yellow Bullet over this, and the flames were fanned by Hot Rod when they posted an article that he may not be coming this year.  We'll see...

Eddie Miller (referred to by some as the Mouth from the South), is coming back with his purple Duster (Barney?) in Pro Street NA.  Eddie is quite a character, and always adds some entertainment value to the event.  And his car is FAST.

James "Doc" McEntire is also returning with his Camaro, which has won the Pro Street NA class a few times.  No love lost between him and Eddie Miller, as I understand it.  Doc is a great guy, and I'll be rooting for him to repeat in the winner's circle.

Curt Johnson, who has owned the BB/NA class for the last few years, is signed up for Pro Street Power Adder.  It will be fun to see how Curt does there; he is always a serious competitor to be reckoned with.

Jack Miller is also signed up for Pro-Street Power Adder, with his FE powered 68 Mustang with twin Paxtons.  At least it used to have twin Paxtons the last time I saw it.  Can't wait to see Jack again.

Looks like Jon Huber will be there again with his 4 cylinder turbo Mustang in small block power adder.  Jon is famous for his wheelstands with that car; he gets something like 1000 HP out of that 4 banger.

Brad Dyer, who is one of Curt Johnson's friends from the Rockford, IL area, is back with his Nova which won Modified NA last year.  That is also the class I'm signed up for, and I think I'll be running that class... ::)

Bill Fowler, who is one of our forum members, looks to be running a new car this year in BB/NA, an 87 Mustang, rather than the "Prom Queen's Ride", his 71 Mustang convertible that he's had at Drag Week many, many times.  Same 1000 HP 385 series Ford engine, though.  Bill will go faster because the new car is much lighter than the old one.  If I know Bill, he'll be thrashing right up to the last minute to get ready (just like me LOL!)

Chad Reynolds, one of the guys who runs bangshift.com, is registered with a '93 Chevy S10 in small block power adder.  Chad is famous for the "giant cock" episode from the first Drag Week in 2005.  No, I'm not going to explain that one; you had to be there  ;D

Jeff McConnell is also coming back in small block N/A with his Malibu.  Jeff gets more power out of that SBC than anybody I know.

My pal Joel Nystrom, aka Captain Stabbin' and another of our forum members, is registered in the Hot Rod class, but his car won't be ready for the event so he's bringing his Daily Driver Oldsmobile again, running those blistering high 13s :-[  Maybe next year on the hot rod, Captain...

Larry Warpula, aka fordsel over on the FE Forum, is bringing his 58 Fairlane again this year for Daily Driver.  Larry and his son Clint usually run together; they are great guys.

Also, my friend Kevin (thatdarncat on the forum) is up to #18 on the waiting list, which means he will for sure get in with his 67 Shelby, if the car is ready.  It would be great to see that car at the event.

Man, going down that list just gets me all fired up!  Can't wait for DW'15!

Jay can you bring us back to speed on what your bringing? Thought it was a Cammer again. Not too many details, eh?  ;)

I'm either bringing my 69 Shelby clone with the big SOHC to run in Modified NA, or my 69 Mach 1 with the high riser to run in BB/NA.  Yet to be determined for sure...

I've been watching the Larson story. He just won an NHRA Top Sportsman event. First time ever with a street legal car! Hopefully he doesn't pull out because I'd like to see him win over Lutz. Driving on the street with a 5 second capable car is amazing, and he's owned that unlimited class for so long.

Good luck to all the forum members, FE powered or not. I hope to make it to Indy to watch if the weather is decent.

I'm guessing the two Lutz entries are father & son, like last year. The entry of a Honda is interesting though, something for the ricer crowd I guess. If I remember, at the PRI show Lutz had a late model Scrub displayed in one of the booths, they must have a stable of cars or possibly a customers car.

I don't see Mike Crow on the list.  I knew him back from the Topeka area in the 80's, caravaning to the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals with him and several others in 1982.  Guess he hit a deer with his Dart last year; was hoping to see/hear him make some of those intense power shifts on the GForce.  Any idea what's up?  I don't think he's missed a DW yet.

Found him on FB, looks like he's taking a year off.  Durn.

That's too bad, Mike is a great guy and I was looking forward to seeing him again this year...

I was at Milan a couple Thursdays ago for test and tune and happened to see Mr. Bailey there testing his new Unlimited Camaro with Steve Morris and Skinny Kid. Milan s lights don't work but the car is Fast and I'm sure the wick wasn't turned up all the way...............Al
