Does anyone know if this top cover for the Jerico will interchange with a normal 4 speed toploader? Not sure what all, if anything is interchangeable between the transmissions, I've never dealt with a Jerico. Just thought this would be a nice piece to put on my trans when it gets rebuilt to look nice and possibly add a little more strength over the thin stamped factory unit.

I think Brent did one, but then you lose the vent (which he smartly added to the tail shaft housing)

Yes, I remember he did add the vent to the tail housing. I would have to do something similar. That's no big deal to me.

I have been told by one of the members here that this cover is a Jerico...The vent issue wasn't a problem as I always move them to the tailshaft anyways....

That does look like a Jerico cover. I wondered about the bolt spacing and exact shape, but it must be almost identical. I figured it was close. Thank you.

The Jerico Top Cover is made of easy to machine aluminum that's already off the trans, why in the world would anyone screw with drilling cast iron on tailshaft, having to deal with debris from tapping/drilling iron tail-shaft housing vs simply drilling tapping a vent fitting on Jerico Top Cover? .... what am I missing???
I'd add a old fashioned in-line fuel filter canister on a hose makes for a great vent baffle/breather/filter.

First off the tail shaft housing comes off with 5 bolts and is made of cast iron.It drills and taps like butter.
Second..the top cover vent is not the best idea and Ford new this..It is clearly stated in the Boss 302 T/A chassis book to plug the top cover vent and relocate it to the tailshaft housing.
I also drill and tap the 9" axle housings for vents on both sides.This is also in the book..
The spinning gears and oil create lots of pressure.Venting is critical

Jerico top covers are made of magnesium, not aluminum...
Jerico and G-Force as well, both vent on the tail housing.

Yes, the Boss 302 Chassis Manual states same. Apparently the spinning gears and sliders, plus G-forces in all but the reverse direction when road racing, did cause lots of fluid to escape.
Nasty stuff to clean off a track and/or the bottom of your racer!

Interesting...the guy I bought my cover from had it advertised as magnesium.I only paid $50.00 for it so I didn't bother to exam it closely..I was happy to get it
