I didn't see any obvious butchery, what are the signs of it being a 4Dr?

Hard for me to tell for sure, I'm looking on my phone, but I had the same thought when I first looked at it that it had been a 4 door. If you look at the messed up drivers side it looks like you can see the outline of the rear door. A real 2 door / convertible should have longer doors than the front doors on a 4 door. It was somewhat common for people to make "Parade" cars out of old vehicles by cutting the roof off, local company near me used to have one. Anyway, anyone thinking of buying it take a close look.

Look at pic #3, it sure looks like a clear and distict line/ gap going around what would be the bottom of the rear door. It looks like there may be filler covering most of the gap.

Yep, a former 4-door. Strange what some will do yet I admired the fine bodywork on the good side. Someone did some really nice work!

Reminds me of a 63 galaxie I saw once.  I went to check it out as I was in the market at the time.
The car looked nice from the pictures.  Went to check it out and was surprised at the amazing skill in the redneck body work.
the rear quarters were entirely gone, almost no sheet metal.  However someone took spray expanding foam and shot the whole rear of the car.  They then took a razor blade and shaved it to where it was close to the original body line, then went over it with bondo and applied a (oddly enough) really high quality paintjob.
I was half and half, disgusted and amazed.  It seems for the huge amount of time and energy they spent getting it so nice looking, they could have just bent some sheet metal and done it right..... ohh well, whatever.

At least that 64 listed above appears to have been a good use of an unwanted 4dr car.  I think I'd have welded the doors shut and made sure to reinforce the car some, but otherwise it seems like a neat idea (despite being roughly $1500 overpriced)

Your right. Other should be about 18" or so open space behind the driver seat with door open.

+1 with Drew.  It definitely was a Fordor.  I think this car is best for someone who has a 64 and needs some of the parts; like the 390 and maybe the Selectaire AC under the dash.  Btw the upgraded (134a and new condenser) factory AC in my 63 Galaxie works well, even in the SE Texas summer.
