i have been waiting for edelbrock to come out with a air gap single 4barrel intake but no luck . i am running a fe in a 70 mach 1 with a shaker scoop so the height has to be similar to a cj or pi intake also carb location is an issue also.the dual quad air gap edee is close to the right height and i have looked at the single plane edee but dont think it can be milled enough for clearance let alone how it would work after. can anyone including jay b tell me if one of his adapters with a cleveland air gap intake be anywhere close to what i need or could it be machined to get close ...thanks lee

A cast iron CJ intake is 6.000" high, PI is 6.375", and Victor is 6.500". I have used the PI with ram air hood and short spacer. I have also milled the Victor for use with Shaker hood, so you have a choice if you so desire. I don't think there would be anything to be gained by using a cleveland 2V RPM air gap in the spacer over a FE Performer RPM, or BT, milled Victor. JMO, but information for thought. Joe-JDC

With my intake adapter and the 351C Performer RPM, the carb sits about 1-1/4" higher than it does with a factory 428CJ intake, so you won't be able to get it to fit without a lot of screwing around. I've done the same thing that Joe has with the Victor, which is to cut the top at a 6 degree angle and machine it down somewhat to make it work. The Victor is pretty tall, so even with the machining the shaker scoop will stick out of the hood quite a bit more than stock, but it will work; I've done it on my 69 Mach 1. But you better have a strong engine to be able to take advantage of the Victor, at least 500 HP or so...
