Dropped my 485 in tonight and like Ross said everything went in together headers and all. Saved a lot of time and aggravation not to mention skinned nuckles .
Tried to send pictures and don't know how it kept saying file to large but I don't think I am installing itright
-
You will most likely get that problem if you use the "attachment" box to include photos. If you're using Photobucket, go to the right of the pic being displayed and there are about four options, click the bottom one that says IMG I believe, it will copy it and click paste into your actual "text" box your typing your post into. It will put like a url there, and when you preview or post, the pic will automatically show up. ;)
-
I'm on an I pad I don't think it has photobucket maybe I can send pictures to another computer and send them from there

As far as Photobucket, it is just a website. www.Photobucket.com ,You should be able to access it from any computer, phone, or tablet with internet. I don't know if it will have the same options on a I Pad though. Some tablets don't have the same functions as a regular computer, so you might not get the IMG option on the side. If you use an actual computer, you should have no problem. Looking forward to seeing that motor. ;) Ok, got the website linked.

Are the pics showing up for anyone else? All I'm seeing is urls. on my tablet.
-
Jared is telling you right. The link will start as [URL..... Then end with ....URL] and it looks like it posts twice. You can preview and it will show the picture.
Keep trying, it take some time and patients. ;)

Maybe we could start a new topic for explaining just this somewhere afterwards. What do you think Jay? I know I struggled to figure it out at first too Stangman, don't feel bad.
-
Going to shoot myself only kidding but tomorrow is another day goodnight
-
I've tried over and over with an IPad.
It just doesn't work.
-
The images you are trying to show us are local on your PC - you have to host the images on the WWW - try PhotoBucket, its free and easy to use.

Hey, glad to see you got it! Pics look great. Which valve covers are you going to use? Nice engine compartment and engine/trans look nicely detailed. Good job. ;)
-
I have the original valve covers from 1963 the baldies with eagle stickers I love the old school look I would like to take credit for posting pictures but one of the kids here at work helped me. Oh I also have the original air cleaner assembly
-
Whatever it takes. Lol. The baldies should look nice on there, especially with the 2×4. I have The chrome 427 pentroofs on mine. I like the old school look too. That is why I have decided I will powdercoat the headers flat white on mine when I rebuild the motor soon.
-
That would look good Luv the look of the 66 fairlane The guy down the block from me just bought one from florida I live on long Island but he has a small block still very nice car

Glad to hear it! Truth be told, I have good pictures and experience doing it, but Jay Brown was the guy that talked us all into that method. If I remember correctly, his demo picture was outside in the driveway in the late 90s early 2000s
If you notice the pics that I put up are titled, no way, no way2, and amazing LOL The pictures I posted from 2006 were my first attempt based on Jay's input and titled for what I was thinking when I did it :)
-
Btw Stangman, which paint did you use on the engine compartment? It looks great and I am going to be painting our '85 Mustang in a few days or so and it looks like what we're looking for.

Here's the picture Ross was referring to, circa 2004:

That is an awesome picture Jay.
No way that works.........yet.

:o
what ever works, that's what its all about.

You took an extra 2 minutes to put it on jack stands....that's wasted time!

I wish my headers went in like you guys. Mine is at least a 3- 3 1/2hr ordeal. ::)

If I was a young man like you, I'd have them off and on in a couple of hours.
Took me a tad longer a couple of weeks ago. But I'm old and sore. ;)
-
Yeah Howie, lol. It definately depends on which headers you have. Mine put up a fight to line up the individual tube flanges that bolt together. Some have to be coaxed into place. Always have a container with several bolts in while under the car so you can keep going when you drop some for the hard to reach ones. And there are plenty of those. :P

What's up guys was working for my old shop today timing belt 2.5 GT Subaru . Painted the compartment lik three months ago but was still a little chilly paint checked in a couple of spots Boy was I pissed. I used regular krylon satin black the first time then I used VHT high temp chassis paint satin looks nice right a little richer black. And before putting motor in this way I used to lay them in there and bolt them up as I lowered motor probably 2 1/2 hours . Thanks for letting me in on the whole header thing guys
-
Thanks for the reply. The chassis paint was a consideration. I think that's what we'll be going with.
-
Hey jay is that one of those gear vendors if it is how is it? Jared it goes on nice to
-
Yes, that is a C-4 plus a Gear Vendors Overdrive. I'm in love with those things; they effectively turn a race-only car that would be impossible to drive down the highway into a streetable car. I've had really good luck with them. Its too bad they are so expensive...
-
I agree about the price. I have 4.11 with a 26 inch tire so it screams on the parkway that gear ever would be perfect. I would also eventually like to go to a c-4 I was under the impression that it takes a lot less horsepower to spin the c-4 instead of my c-6
-
A stock C-4 uses 25-30 horsepower less than a stock C-6. When I put a C-4 in my Mach 1, it felt like somebody had released the emergency brake. Big, big difference.
-
How much hp does a TKO 600 trans use...
-
Nice pics... I spent 6 hours in my driveway replacing my pinned motor mounts with bone stock motor mounts yesterday. I thought I was getting vibration transferred through the mounts... I was wrong. Now I need to either put the pinned set back in or dimple the headers in a few places as they now contact the shock tower a lil when the engine shakes at idle. All good times with a cherry picker. :P
