That's pretty darn cool! Nearly 700hp and it didn't sound like it idled bad. According to that dyno screenshot, they spun it to 7400 rpms also. Pretty impressive. That shot of the block looked like it was one cast piece. Some nice work there. Funny how it immediately takes on a Ferrari type sound though. Gotta love it.

Yes, it has that ripping silk Ferrari sound at/near 7,400!
-
wow, some guys can do anything. amazing. a dying art for sure.
-
I've watched it a couple times now and it just cracks me up when he says "it's simple". :o
-
Yep, fantastic stuff. Looks and sounds like it's ready to rip itself loose from its moorings. Of course, it's just a couple of straight sixes married at the crank, right? :P
The natural skills and vision of guys like that are getting harder and harder to find IMO. I'll bet he drew this up in his mind, checked some dimensions to verify and just started cuttin'...

I have an old customer who can build anything. He's into steam & antique machinery, & says with a lathe, milling machine & a welder you can do anything. He is a high school dropout with no formal ed. It's called passion & I salute him.

I think that's part of what draws me to this hobby/pastime/life we all like.
There are some true genius's out here.
I marvel at the thought process's behind making horsepower and the artistry of cars.
Besides that, hawling ass is cool too! 8)

That's what I'm talking about (and "hawlin ass" too ;D ;D. )
A guy realizes he's got certain skills, gets up off his hindquarters and goes out and develops them. In the end he winds up being great at it, even the go-to guy but remains humble at the same time.
The guys that are quietly good are the ones you can always learn something from.

How did he access all the areas where the 2 blocks needed to be welded together?
-
Ever seen Lethal weapon, where the martial arts guy field strips the weapon pointed at him? The classic line right after (IMO) delivered by Mel Gibson: "How'd he do that? Danny Glover, knowing he's about to get his ass kicked says, "let's go ask him................

All of the areas to be welded should be external. You would just be extending where the water jacket and lifter valley are. The skirt is not an issue and nothing siamesed inside the block, so it wouldn't be hard to mate them with good machine work.
