Title: c6 pan gasket

I'm looking at replacing my C6 pan gasket with this one from Moroso.
The cork ones always seem to leak for me. (no over tightening and pan is flat)
Anyone have any experience with this one:

The cork gasket on my C6 was "oozing" fluid, so I just replaced it with FelPro TOS18628.  This is sort of a rubberized material (not cork).  It has only been on the car about a week now but no leaks so far.

I used Right Stuff on both sides on my last C6.  Never leaked.  I'm sure the new owner of it curses the hell out of me next time he has to drop the pan though.   ;D

I have thought about Right Stuff, but what do you do about the difference in pan gasket height vs Right Stuff? I would have to at least check the pickup to see that it did not create a problem making the pickup too close to the pan.

Also, I just removed my intake manifold after using Right Stuff. It came off easy with no problems. A trans pan would be more flimsly, but if you slliced it first I think if would come off ok, the only problem would be getting the excess off the trans and not getting the remnants inside the valve body.

I just ran a small 1/32" bead around the pan surface on the trans, around each hole, then did the same thing on the pan.  Sandwich the cork between the two and torque it down.  Then install a 5-speed manual and ditch the C6 before you ever have to mess with it again.   ;D

     I use Cork for a C-6 trans. The best advise with cork is make sure both surfaces are clean and dry.  Torque it down once, then go around again. I sometimes go around 3 times. You want to get full crush on the gasket. If there is oil or gasket sealer on the surface where the gasket contacts, a cork gasket will slide and split.


Also, check to see if the pan bolts have dimpled the pan rail. I fix those by putting the pan rail on the edge of the bench (must have the inside of the pan facing up), set the ball end of a ball peen hammer in the hole and use another hammer to hit the flat end of the ball peen.
