This question is on the strength of the scat h beam 6.70 inch , Barry has mentioned on numerous occasions that the rods , and cranks are good to 700 - 750 hp levels . Is that with the bolt as delivered or with the arp 2000 upgrade ? , and if as delivered what would the rating be with the arp upgrade ? .. Bud

I've run the basic rod with 8740 bolts at 7000 RPM and 700HP several times. I cannot tell you when it will fail 'cuz I have not failed one yet. I would expect that a road race application would mandate a move to a higher quality rod such as a Callies, as would an 8000RPM deal.

Thanks Barry , i guess i was thinking that under extreme conditions the 8740 bolt would fail before the rod ? , and that the arp 2000 bolt would push the rods hp level up ? .. Bud

The 2000 bolt is doubtless a better part.
But at that level you may as well spring for the Callies rods
They are under a grand/set and are way better parts

Point taken Barry , thanks again i am putting my idea s together for my 427 build , and would rather over build the short block , so a steel crank to go along with the callies rods , i am thinking 496 inchs and 2 - 4 s .. Bud
