Hello to everybody here. For my first post on this forum I thought I'd share some dyno numbers from a 410 I built for friends 64 Galaxie this last summer. Its very "Basic" as far as the parts go....................

Well, I was to quick to post! I meant to get another PIC on there of the engine on the dyno, and some details on the engine itself. Block is .040" over, KB Icon pistons, C7 rods with ARP bolts, 1U crank, ORE Cams flat tappet solid profile, Crower 'oiler' lifters, Smith bros P/rods, bowel ported "R" heads with 2.15INT,1.65EXH vlv's, Comp rockers, PRW shafts, end-supports, etc. The Intake is a StreetMaster that I worked over along with a 850CFM Holley Street HP carb and a HVH Super Sucker spacer. The static comp. ratio worked out right at 10.1 Theres a lot left in this combo as far as cylinder heads and camshaft...................

How'd the KB Icon pistons "sound"? I had only sold one or two sets - unimpressed with the visuals despite a cost advantage. Just had an engine builder/friend/customer call in who had been chasing what he thought was a valvetrain noise for literally monthes - and eventually isolated the noise to the Icon pistons after two cams and who knows how much valvetrain parts & untold grief. I would love to get first hand backup experience to know if this was isolated or something to look out for...

seems like a solid combo. Do you have cam specs for the solid? Mike

Looks like a fun street motor to me!

Well I dont have much to report on the pistons so far as this deal has not made it into the car yet. On the dyno I dont recall hearing any piston knock to speak of. I had to 'dress up' the pistons here and there as the final finish on them is a little rough by my standards! For the money they dont seem to be that bad of piston, but time will tell. The cam specs are: 240/242*@.050 .595-.593 NET Lift ground on a 110* Lobe seperation. The cam lobe is a .875 tappet design.

You seem to have built an engine with no 'curve' to the power and torque curves. Monster street engine!!

Thnx for the compliment! To tell you the truth, This "Small Bore" FE surprised me to say the least. My friends 'set-up' as far as the car goes hopefully will show this little torquers potential. He has a well built C6, custom built Cotenential converter, & 4.11 gears. Even though the car is heavy, it should rock.

Thanks for posting the cam specs. Just noticed they were on in the dyno sheet. Mike
