Sad to say but having a major house cleaning. Selling the engine and vehicle this adapter was supposed to be for.
At my current speed of getting projects done I am selling all but 2 which will keep me busy until I am 178 yrs old.

535.00 + the ride to a forum member. Or do the ebay bid and see where it goes.

should be a interesting auction.....Good luck on the sale......Cory
-
Yes, I will be watching this one myself ;D ;D
-
Yes, I will be watching this one myself ;D ;D
Jay, A good testimony to the quality and desire of the Adapter. It is now @ 600.00 only 12 hours in.
I had bids within 7 minutes of listing it.
I set out trying to re-coup what I had in it along with any listing fee's etc
I have never had this much interest on a ebay item before.
I am sure a year or two from now when I can actually use one I will be kicking myself . . LOL
-
That is remarkable. I sure wish I could build these things faster...
-
I got 6 months a year off......
Do we need to start a mini FE factory?
Nevermind.... I just looked up where you live, I don't go that far north :P Probably too cold in August for me.
-
LOL! There IS heat in my shop, you know...
-
I will work for parts, should I send a resume LOL.
-
Hah.... yeah, how many hours do I need to log in to get the 390 stroker dyno mule?
I need a good reason to kick the 429 outta my car.
-
This is crazy!
Now @ 810.00
-
Jay, I'd like to put in an order for a few more adapters, I'd like to put some on Ebay lol.
-
I ordered a extra one because the opportunity was there....Its looking like it wasn't such a bad idea...
As I said in my prior post...should be a interesting auction for everyone.........Cory
-
The response to the auction makes it crystal clear that almost nobody knows about my intake adapters, save for the folks on this web site. I still have another 35 or 40 to deliver, plus a bunch of the high riser version, in order to get completely caught up on my list. My plan at that point was to start selling them on ebay myself. I'm hopeful that this auction is indicating a good market for the parts. One thing about the auction, though, is that it says there are only 100 of the intake adapters produced, and that is not correct; I plan to continue making the adapters for quite some time. I wonder if the bidding would go that high if some of the bidders knew that? I won't say anything though ;)
-
Those are valid points Jay but it is e-bay .I have seen Holman Moody stuff go for more on e-bay than you can buy it new from them...I see a new market place for your products tho......I am keeping my spare .Its one of the first 10 built and in its original packaging....The box maybe worth more than the manifold.. ;D ;D
-
imagine what you would get if you included the 351C Torker ready to use as well..
-
I was only trying to get $$ spent, I put the reserve slightly over what I had into it to cover fee's etc. I did not expect it to hit reserve but just a place where I might be able to re-coup most of the $$
At the time I listed it I needed funds for my 482 Project. Since listing I have sold 2 big ticket items so could have kept it around just for the cool factor.
-
Holy crap!!! That is all I have to say on this matter. I just checked the auction, I guess I got a huge deal on mine when I get it.
-

Actually, that is technically not a lie. I believe only 100 have been produced TO THIS DATE if I am correct? Future production doesn't count. :)
To somebody needing one right NOW, I'm sure it's worth the money rather than having to wait several months. Supply and demand you know. Then again, it IS Ebay....and he hasn't gotten the money yet...lol
-
Yeah, I've actually delivered only 80-something of them. I wasn't suggesting the auction was not truthful, just that further explanation could have been done. Or not ;D
-

I guess my wording was not done so well. All I remembered was a 100 number.
I guess this was in back of my mind when I typed the listing.
"I've been getting pricing for the required pattern tooling, and casting quotes for the manifolds themselves, and have everything I need to get going on this. When I got started I was hoping to be able to sell the manifolds for $295, but with the pricing I've been getting it will need to be $395 for me to be able to build 100 of these things and break even with all the tooling costs and so forth. I don't know if the market will pay this or not; after all, after spending $395 on the manifold base you would still have to spend another $350-$500 for a 351C intake to go on top. You can buy an FE Victor for around $550, which would end up being a lot cheaper. I don't want to do this if I can't sell at least 100 manifolds.
So what do you guys think?" :-[ :-[
I thought the original run was supposed to be 100 manifolds.
I offered it for basically what I had into it. I was "not" trying to profit from it at all.
Never expected the response. I advertised a all original low mile plymouth superbird and did not have this many watchers.
Again, I have not been paid yet . . A few minutes ago I had my first question from anyone bidding.
2nd highest bidder is a local guy who has pricing on his stuff through the roof!
-
Hey, don't get me wrong, I think its great that you're going to make some money on it. Nothing wrong with that! My original plan was indeed to do 100 manifolds and then see if I wanted to continue doing them after that. I made a decision after the first 50 castings that I wanted to continue with it, so I've been taking orders for more; up to about #120 now. Please don't take my comments as a criticism, because that's not how they are intended, and in fact I'm pretty excited by the results of your auction. Seems like I ought to be able to sell a lot more of these things...
-
Maybe I should wait until the end of the auction and contact the second highest bidder and offer to sell mine for $50 less than high bid ;D ;D
I'm KIDDING of course.
The auction really doesn't surprise me much. Like all things, it's the low production number that makes them more valuable, but I'll admit I'm a bit surprised it went as high as it has.
Sorry you're having to sell all your stuff. I really wish I would have known about that F600.
-
You are correct Jay in that your manifold likely needs far more exposure. Sure you have thought of it but....perhaps joining all the relevant Ford enthusiast websites, and there are a bunch, to herald the availability of it would help move sales along. Oh, I would not skip the Cobra, Cleveland, Windsor or 312 sites either. One never knows where FE powered vehicles may be stashed. JMO!
-
Just remember, it only takes two people to bid against one another. There may not be two people next time. From my experience, you never know how deep the water is on EBAY.

Here is the listing for the F600. The truck is still here but have been paid.
I am already kicking myself for letting it go. No way in a zillion years can I replace it for that much $$
If you are interested in doing a ramp truck I have a line on another low miler. A lot less $$
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultra-Low-Mile-1966-F600-Yes-only-5792-Documented-Original-Miles-/181589575765?ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=0TqO2PRP3CupeBHibacsW9gETvM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
I have a feeling the current high bidder on adapter will not bid any more, possible the 2nd high bidder will go for more at end.
I just hope knowone starts pulling bids to mess it all up.
There are 3 or 4 bidders OVER 750.00
If nothing else this gives Jay a bit more exposure . .
Maybe I should add a pic of the new timing cover?
Currently 121 people that are "watching" the auction
-
I passed up a truck with 12000 miles but not as clean. It was a N-600 for 1200 bucks, had a flat bed and dual PTO.
-

Noooooo, not yet on the timing cover LOL! I'm not ready!
121 watchers is amazing :o

127 watchers now
No plans on making any further changes to listing.

eBay just goes to prove there is one born every minute. I am not sure who can't see that it says FEPower on it and just Google that and see what comes up.
Like the "Shelby" exhaust donuts that come up on eBay every once in a while. In a bag clearly marked with a Ford part number than any idiot could call into the Ford dealer parts department and get the well under ten dollar price quote yet they seem to sell for $60 to 100.
I swear these people buy their groceries on eBay and get into bidding wars for fifty dollar quarts of milk.
-
i posted your auction on a few ford fe fb pages when i first saw it on the fordfe.net classifieds. I have also posted pictures of my adapter with my tunnel ram fuel injection manifold i made, and alot of guys never heard of the adapter even on the fe facebook pages,, and i always posted a link to here. you might make close to 1050 or so i bet.. good luck :)
-
I guess this definitely shows there is a market for other intakes than are offered now. I still wonder why someone has not come out with a Ford style injection intake like I am planning? Obviously a lot of people want something intake wise that is not currently offered. It is kinda funny how there are so many intakes for a short run engine like the Cleaveland but so little offered for the FE that spanned decades of production.
-
Uhhhh
Don't look now.

Wow! $1,100+ now. Amazing.
-
Yup all it takes is two morons LOL
-
There are some rather (pick one or several) :)dramatic :)eccentric :)nutjob "FE" folks on those FB pages :o >:( :P
-
lol Gene. a bunch of all lol
-
Yep, there's a few of those Google/Wiki instant FE "experts" on there that would argue with a tree if no one took the bait LOL- I swear that one guy must be Numberdummy from FTE...
-
i posted a video of my break-in on one of them, so many internet mechanics can diaganose right off the screen and give a step by step, wont be doing that anymore.

When you said Uhhhh don't look now I almost did not dare look. Had vision of someone cancelling bids . .
Are these people crazy? Good for me tho LOL
Current bid:US $1,115.00
[ 26 bids ]
Just think if Jay got 600.00 more each for each of the 100 manifolds . . Thats a good chunk of change.
I think I will buy stock in FePower LLC (or did I already?)
What really surprises me as they are just bidding. No questions
Current views and number of watchers Views 1488 Watchers 146
That's a all time record for me in Watchers
I looked early this morning and it was still at 900.00
At least 4 people want it . . .
This should help on the 4 post hoist I ordered that for sure would fit in my garage door. Well the hoist showed up today and upon assembly I noticed the hoist was 1/2" shy of fitting in my garage door and that was without casters . . .
A BIG chunk of coin as they will not take it back even tho the sales person said no problem . .
-

Don't give him any more ideas than he already has. ;)
-
Well someone might have just capped the bidding... Another one just got posted up for sale.
And sorry Gene, don't know the part number... And don't need to google it.
-
I have waited so long to get mine it would take more that 1200 for me to give mine up. With what I want to do it is a necessity to mount my intake and it would cost me a lot more to have a manifold made to fit from scratch. But I guess with everything once ported and all I will have 1500 or more in my intake so if you want something that bad I guess it is what it is.
-
Where is the other one listed...I didn't see another one on e-bay
-
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=261682489340
-
At this point you could have a intake made to fit, a custom CNC intake you could have made for less than 2000 dollars I would think? It is crazy what people will pay for something they know very little about.
-
Would have been a lot cooler if the new guy could have waited a couple days to see what the first one would have done >:( I don't know if you could have a custom intake made for that price Jon. I think one would have more in cad drawings and writing programs for the lathe and getting molds made. Jmho.
-
Maybe a sheet metal one could be done. Before Jay came out with his adaptor I considered mating a dual plane Edelbrock to a Ford Cleaveland intake by having it milled out and have the lower welded to the upper. The dual quad air gap I have actually looks a lot like Jays part minus the removable plate. I never priced it out though as about that time Jay announced that he was working on a design that would adapt the part I was considering anyhow.
-

And he probably would have got a better price as well! First one goes for $2k makes yours look like its worth that much...
-
My thoughts on where Jay may, or should go with this in the future, since some of the adapter buyers are speculators: The next 15 adapters should go directly to ebay, sell them auction style, one or two a week or 5 day auctions. Starting with a higher than current obligated price, reap the profits. Then finish up the remaining already ordered manifold adapters to thwart the speculators.
After the pre-ordered adapters have been made, shipped etc. set the price on the next run closer to what the market establishes as a median.
I have two, myself ( two different iterations ) and I'm very impressed with the quality of these parts. I believe Mr. Brown deserves to profit from his labor!
Rick Wanner, Yup, old school here.
-
Eh yeah works out great for you LOL. The thing about an auction as said is people will bid an item many times way past market value. Just because some morons bid something up just to prove they have deeper pockets does not show market value, it just shows there are some really naive people out there with more money than sense.
-
I would even give Jay my two back if he could make that kind of money off them, and wait on later ones. I have so many projects working, it would not be an issue for me. They are really a neat piece of work for the FE builder. I really think a sheetmetal intake to complement the adapter would be "king of the hill" for a bracket car or serious street car. Joe-JDC
-

I'm getting light headed. :)
-
LOL! Easy Marc, don't pass out on us ;)
I appreciate the comments because they are obviously directed at my own interests. But its against my general nature to promise one thing, and do another, so I will continue down the list and deliver all those intake adapters before I start doing any advertising on ebay. I think it would be bad business for me to put a bunch of people who've been waiting for months on hold so I could sell some now on ebay to make a little extra money. Those kinds of business practices, while common in the FE world, don't lead to long term success, IMO.
I also don't think that anybody who bought one was really a "speculator"; its easy to have a change of plans and need to sell your stuff to fund the next project, or the next rent payment, whatever. And after seeing how much the first one is bid up to ($1500 last time I checked), I also don't blame anybody who wants to sell theirs to make some money. They can always get another one from me later LOL!
In a few months I'll have delivered all the intake adapters on the list and put a few up on ebay myself, and we'll see how the prices end up then. In the meantime, anybody want to speculate on how high this one will go? I'm gonna say $1625...
-
I'll try to stay upright Jay but all this talk of wonderful equipment is intoxicating. ;D
BTW
I think the bid price on the Ebay item is just an indication of the demand for well thought out and developed equipment.
As well as a couple guys that don't know they can call you.
Thanks for your business practices.
Kinda makes me wanna get another for the future.
Congrats on a beautiful piece of kit.
-
I depends on the auction sniper, yes at one time I was guilty of such practices but in the end the last 10 seconds sets the price. I am going with 2010.99 as a top price, could go higher depends how bad they want to win. I found with auctions both live and proxy for some people it starts as bidding on a object but soon it becomes just winning no matter what the price. I saw a Power King tractor go up for auction that i put some bids on a few years ago at a local farm auction. I knew the tractor was a plain Jane worth approximately 600-800 dollars. I bidded it up to 1000 dollars just to make the guy eat it, then someone else bidded it up to 2200. Later the guy who won it saw i had a Power King hat on and asked me if i would work on it because he did not know anything about it, i laughed and said that is blatantly obvious. I explained to him that i just sold a much better fully painted and rebuilt tractor just like it for 1500 and laughed, i then said sure i will rebuild it for 2000 dollars and walked away.
-
Pretty amazing.
Now that I have a good supply of heads (about thirty pair left available at this moment) I decided to put them up on ebay to get more attention. Quite a few watchers - but so far zero sales. At least none through ebay itself. I made the wrong part ::)
-
Hey Barry.
The last time I looked at your Ebay auction the heads you had listed were bare but priced at the assembled price. Maybe I miss read the listing. Scott
-
I just checked and it looks correct at my end.
No "deals" for ebay - just figured it was another venue to publicize the availability.
We are valve jobbing a bunch right now since the complete heads are outselling the bare castings by 3-1
-
Update:
So far simply no response from high bidder. If a non paying person it will really mess things up. So much for the excitement.
Lets hope it is not a member of this forum or the "other" forum.
Person does buy a lot of FE parts and FE related stuff.
No beware of yet will give them more time but is in the area north of LA and west of LV
-
I was wondering what your adapter finally went for? Hopefully all will go alright with the payment. Is the buyer bidding on the other one that's on eBay now?
-
Everyone is anonymous on Flea bay now, you can't view who you are bidding against. Another bs deal ya know. Another reason I would not deal with Evil bay.
-
1500.00 was high bid.
A person in the FE community who is not answering messages thru ebay, by email or by phone.
That does not mean they will not pay but one would think in the amount of time given so far they would respond.
they were very late in the game to bid so am sure they were watching auction.
It will really mess things up if a non pay.
Do not remember the time line given to pay but usually what I put is no more than 3 days.
I simply do not see a time line at this point within the listing.
Never had luck with 2nd chance offers
-
Nice as I said Flea bay sucks.
-
When I sold my 3x2 the buyer never communicated at all.
Just paid the money and said nothing.
Shipped it to him and asked him to tell if it got there Ok.
Nothin'.
I guess some folks don't like to talk.
And on the Ebay deal.
Yeah they surprised me.
Had my charges tallied up when I did the add so I thought I knew what it would cost then afterwards billed me for 10% of the sale.

I would contact the other seller and make sure that your buyer isn't bidding on that one too.
-
I would contact the other seller and make sure that your buyer isn't bidding on that one too.
But it was a "private" auction, bidders identities protected.
I don't understand the thinking behind making it private, the only people apparently it is actually private for are other bidders, why keep other bidders from knowing who else is bidding against them?
I don't understand how he is able to see if his "private"bidder is bidding on another seller's auction.
I also don't understand all these bidders with hundreds of wins on their history that bid repeatedly in the opening days of an auction...just driving up the price. That's the eBay novice approach, not the behavior you'd expect from experienced bidders.
I do understand contract law, where if you present an offer and it is accepted without modification, then there's a deal.
-
I've been known to bid early in an auction.
My reasons:
-I know what I'm willing to pay for something. If I'm only willing to pay $100 and I don't really care if I win, I just bid $100. It might look like someone is bidding repeatedly, when it is just their high bid being posted due to someone else bidding.
-I work offshore a good bit of the time (2200 days this decade) and cell service is sometimes unavailable, so I just bid when I can and forget about it.

Guessing that you joined this forum solely for the purpose of trying to take advantage of an offer that has obviously expired
-
Don't see an expiration date or withdrawal of the offer. Joined here due to lack of response at network54 forum by ra.
-
Looks like the expiration date of that offer expired when it was listed on eBay due to no takers. BTW I couldn't see anywhere on the other forum where anyone made bid or offer. Did I miss it?
-
The original offer had an "or" in it.
Seemed to me the eBay path lead to a charade, so I chose the straight-up choice.
-
I always go the strait up deal, hand shake, money, done and everyone is happy.
-

Not that difficult. He has the sellers name and ebay ID. He contacts the other seller, tells him what happened with his auction, and asks if his buyer is bidding on the second one to try and get it cheaper. Done deal. The only hitch would be if the second seller didn't cooperate.
-

Common sense says that once the ebay bid went up over $600 the other offer was void. I imagine that was why there was no response on the network54 forum, and why you probably won't get one here, either.
If you want one, email me (jayb@fepower.net) and I'll put you on my list. Shipping probably in March for new orders...
-
If you think the eBay auction was real, maybe.
Not only has he not communicated on at least three (counting both the root network54 and the classified forum there, plus here), he is actually complaining about a nebulous ebay buyer not communicating with him.
Just end this critically-panned zero-star farce and accept what he wanted from the sale originally.
Too much game playing.
And I am already on your list; so this one or the one coming, should arrive soon.

Funny, don't see any offers to buy outright in this thread.
http://www.network54.com/Forum/75943/thread/1416973428/FEPower+LLC+Intake+adapter
For what it's worth, once the auction ended on that other site, the seller entered into a contract with the winning bidder, and he is bound by the 'ethics' of that site to honor the contract.

So since when is it mandatory to sign in here in less than every 24 hours?
My daughter was hit from behind @ 60 mph and her and two friends are hurt. Our car is totaled and we have no spare car to drive, I have been dealing with insurance but now per you It is mandatory I sign in here every 24 hours or less?
I did not see any offers from you here or elsewhere prior to my last post.
intake sold on ebay. When did you offer prior?
I see it now . . . How about you post your name so I know?
-
Yikes maybe this thread should die right here, I do not see much good coming from it now.
-
Jon, that is an excellent idea! Topic is closed ;)
