Title: SUV
Post by: ScotiaFE on October 30, 2014, 07:37:30 AM
The other day I was at the rink watching my grandsons playing hockey.
I'm so proud. I was a hockey player.
There was two women sitting the next row down and they were talking about which SUV to buy.
And I mean in great detail and how much one is better than the other and about looks and such.
Then a day or so later my step daughter says she wants a Rover SUV.
This has got me thinking. So now I will refer to them as
Suburban Uterus Vehicle.
Look around guys. This is their phallic symbol.

I thought most SUV's are driven by women. It sure wasn't that way with old Broncos and Scouts and Land Rovers, those were manly men machines. Almost required a beard to have one.

The SUV ( shitty useless vehicle ) has nothing in common with a utility vehicle, once it was required to have off road capability, power enough to climb a tree and be utilitarian. A SUV has none of these qualities and shares no common design. I suppose a Ford Escort wagon would be a better comparison LOL.

The freaking thing is SUVs by nature are more prone to rolling over then cars. I always make it a point that my lady understands the right and wrongs of having a car and SUV especially leave the highway on to the dirt/grass etc and how to use her head to controll it. Especially the desire to steer back on the road from the side. When I was 16 a friend explained: you slow the car on pavement THEN get off on the grass where the brakes/steering are not efficient.
I sat in on a ASE class on frame straightening and was fascinated  by the way SUV frames almost always kink "down" when it flips over on it's roof and the "A" pillar transfers the impact right through the body and "kinks" down  the upside down frame with its wheels in the air!  You will find SUVs with broken off side mirrors minor damge to sides, not so bad roof damage and badly kinked down frames.

It's cooler than a Mini Van.....
My wife gave up her beloved Mustang 5.0 LX back in 93 after our secound was born , the 5.0 was fine with one but the second just filled it to overflowing!
