I do wonder if its wise to add a flow restrictor in the top heater hose like the Fox Mustangs have. One can easily make a restrictor rather than buy one. I mention this mainly for those who add a high winding engine (FE or otherwise) and later pop the heater core due to high RPM's causing a massive spike in coolant pressure. I had to replace the core in my genie '88 5.0 Stang a few years ago and man, what a bitch to get to it and not dump the A/C lines. I had done my '63 Galaxie's core long ago and it was much easier but still, prevention may be of help.

I'm lazy/cheap Bob, I just buy a heater hose valve that I can open and close. Due to it being a gate valve, I typically leave it mostly shut.... ie 5 turns to close, I keep it 4 or so, or as experimentation dictates.
Of course if you have a bypass installed (from the intake to the waterpump) it's kinda a moot point.
