Title: CJ Intake on 390 GT motor
Post by: jimeast on August 31, 2014, 01:58:41 PM
I have a 67 390 GT motor in a '67 Mustang.  I'm rebuilding the carb and doing some work on the steering and distributor as well.  I have a cast iron CJ intake sitting on a shef and am curious what type of performance gain (if any) I can get swapping the CJ Intake for the S-Code while keeping stock carb, exhaust , etc...

Ford Muscle Parts catalog quotes 17 BPH increase with 735 Holley and CJ intake on 390.  I saw an 13 horsepower increase when changing from a Holley 600 cfm to the 735 CJ carb on a chassis dyno, so the intake must not have made that much difference.  A camshaft change would give a good increase with the CJ intake change.  Joe-JDC
