I have a MSD billet distributor, stock out of the box. No vacuum advance. It is in a street 482 with a tunnelwedge, 10.5 to 1 comp, solid roller cam with a stick tranny in a very light car. I have the idle set at 1000 RPM to better oil the lifters. Per Jay B. I am going to put in the red bushing with the light blue and silver springs to get about 38 degree advance in at 2800 RPM.
Question is should I leave in the heavy springs (out of the box) and set the initial timing at 10 degrees, then switch the bushing and springs? Or if I switch the springs and bushing, what should I set the initial at with the 1000 RPM idle?
Thanks
Paul

Don't be too concerned with the initial timing. Worry about total timing. I usually use a black bushing, with a heavy silver spring and a light silver spring or two light blue springs depending on the combo. You didn't mention which heads you have, but most of my setups usually like 36-38 degrees total.

Hello Brent
They are Dove heads with a custom chamber. They look somewhat like the cleveland chambers, but more open. I have pictures somewhere, but I have to dig them up. They were 68 cc .
