Title: Solid roller lifters

Who's do you trust and who's are junk?

All i have right now is anecdotal evidence from a guy who sent some comp needles into his oil pump twice and wrecked the crank both times.

The Crower solid roller lifters with the pin oiling feature are what Blair Patrick recommended to me.

Just to confirm, solid roller lifters can be used on a block that's NOT drilled for hydraulics, correct?  In other words, if you intend to use solid lifters does it make any difference whether the block was originally drilled for hydraulics or not?

Reason why I'm asking is, I intend to use my 427 Marine block for the Galaxie. The block was not drilled for hydraulics and I intend to use solid roller lifters.

Yes, you can use solid rollers on a block that is not drilled for hydraulic lifters.  But don't waste your money on the pin oiling feature in that case, because that oil comes from the lifter galley.  If there's no lifter galley, there is no pin oiling.

This also means, in my opinion anyway, that you should avoid extended periods idling the engine, because without the pin oiling feature you are relying on oil splash to lubricate the needle bearings in the lifters.  You need to rev it up periodically, to make sure the lifters get some oil.

So how do the bushed lifters live with a solid lifter block and splash oiling only?

I always use a Hyd Block for a street car of any kind... I use lCrowers in my FE's. But like the rest have said... Isky and Morels work great! I wouldnt use any other lifters besides those 3! JMHO
