Montgomery Motorsports Park, Grudge night. Not a test and tune, there was some money involved and classes, although I couldnt tell who what running and when.
Matter of fact, if you decided you launched and didn't like it, shut it down and back up and launch again.....craziest place I have ever seen and additionally some of the most dangerous IMHO
In addition, seemed like every dude, even with a POS street car had a golf cart, a guy walking him up to the lights, and backing him up like a Top Fueler. I have to tell you, I was less than impressed with the chaos but there were some very fast cars
Here is the burnout box, this is what you drive into. People everywhere, music blasting, people standing RIGHT next to you and the racers have to edge their way in around everyone hooting, hollering and acting more like a concert than a race

Here is a car in the burnout box, note this car ran low 6's in the 8th, so its not a slouch. Find the blue barrel in the center, guy in an orange shirt, the car is right behind him. The people on each side of the car are INCHES away during the burnouts and don't leave during the launch, they stand right at your car

Here is the car at full burnout

Literally the crowd would surround the car at launch. Golf cards and kids on the infield, it's like they didnt know these cars could hurt them. I am a bit more conservative than most but WOW
With that being said, met a helo pilot with an 1100 hp small block 69 Camaro. Ran 5.70s and looked and sounded like a 13 second 1/4 cruise night vehicle. EFI twin turbo, 3.50 gear and nothing all that special for the car itself. Very impressive car and built beautifully. Sort of has me thinking if I want to play with turbos on a narrower motor

That is incredibly stupid! I do wonder if they even have track insurance as no firm in their right mind would keep them as a client. So, so many ways to get seriously hurt in the pics you posted. Sadly, once someone gets killed or hurt and sues, one can bet that track like so many others will be permanently shuttered.
-
Wow, now we've seen it all. They must not be sanctioned by the ihra or nhra. They have no concept of safety. How many would be injured if an axle broke, sheared the studs and hit the wall? No way would I race there.

Ross, That sound like a great place to stay away from. Reminds me of the Oakland [Ca] "Sideshows" For those of you who don't know what a "sideshow" is they can be found on U tube. [Cars wildly spinning donuts with passengers hanging out the doors with hundreds of spectators watching, mostly done on city streets and some in the middle of the freeway after the "promoters" temporally block traffic.]

That is street racing off the street, like everybody wants. The same thing would be happening on a public road. Those same two cars would be coming toward you at speed,if you happened to be out at 3am.
Personally IF a good solid non , crap I dont know the word, lawyers step in please. Anyway your 100% at your own risk, health, safety and property. Run somebody over too bad for him, flatten a kid too bad for the kid AND his entire family. Have everybody sign and if they dont too bad they are trespassing, nothing for you. How thick would that wavier be? Could you make it lawyer proof?
$10 a head.
And no I wouldn't race there.

Anyone who has gone to even a few drag races has seen stuff fly off cars at takeoff.
It's amazing the owners allow that to go on.
-
My son raced there several years when stationed there in the USAF. It was very professional on race day, but still had an air of casualness. You could drive in off the street and race anything on T&T. Looks like someone rented the track for your pictures, and not the owners. Joe-JDC

Joe, it changed hands last winter per the locals.
I'll keep checking on the place, this was a grudge night, advertised on bill boards as a major event, but not HRA or IHRA sanctions, if the test and tunes are more normal, I'll hang out. However, there aren't too many "official" events scheduled
If it stays like this, I'll let the locals enjoy and travel to another track

Sounds like Rally Racing where spectators literally line the sides of asphalt and dirt roads and the crazy fast race cars have full cages and state of the art restraint systems.

I would shove a shovel handle out of the window and knock em all down LOL. Now that is what you get for being a moron!

Hmmm, strangest Drag race I'd ever been to?
*gets misty eyed*
I'd just got on shore leave, it was 1992, San Francisco......

Heh heh ;D. Now that right there is about as close to the two taboos as you can get for this forum, a nearly pornographic religious theme. But hey, the one on the far left looks like he hit the nitrous, goin' for the win...
-
I bet Forest Gump races his snapper there?

Biting my tongue LOL!
I would like to see some illegal "drag racing" like this on "Street Outlaws" ;D ;D

That race was fabulous!!!
Lenz, there was no nitrous involved that I know of, just well built a strong "bottom end"
