Title: hughes converter

Does anybody have the Hughes pro street in there car was just wondering if its on the loose side or tight of 3000 what its rated. I know theres alot of variables that affect stall but thought I would ask.

NEVER , and even behind my Blown combo have I found a Universal Rated Converter to be Looser than its rating , Always found them to be tighter , IMHO

I have used a Hughes 10 inch for a number of years and a couple of cams
behind a 428 first at .030 then again .040.
I found that each time the engine got more power the converter got less stall.
When the 428 was in the car last it was pretty hotted up and the converter stalled
around 2600 rpm. A 4000 rpm stall would have better.

I'm now into a Jerico/Soft Lok phase so I will have much better launch speed control. ::)

I was kinda thinking it would be under the 3000 rpm which is ok I want it to be around 25/2600 flash because I want to leave just off idle and flash it to hit my suspension and the Cj cam either one I pick  lunati or crane leaning toward crane it should work well together and still be driveable. With the rite valve springs will the CJ cam pull 5500 does anybody have experience with it? Thanks Chris

The CJ cam was too small for a Cobra Jet.
Think 230ish @50 plus and .575 plus lift for a small street cam.

Chris, I am running the Hughes 3530 and I can detect almost no stall with my engine combo.
BTW, Congrats on your showing at the FE Reunion!  Ed

I believe the Lunati version of the CJ cam has a little more lift and duration than a stock 428 CJ cam.
This is the one my builder put in my 410, it's very streetable and idles nicely at 650 rpm. Easy to start too. I rev at 6000 no problem. It has heavy duty valve springs.

It is a long term project and he has a lot of work ahead of him. We all know how hectic things can be.
