Mild 390 in a pickup.
Automatic.
Any advantage to vacuum advance or is mechanical only okay?
-
The advantage to Vac adv is 1-3 MPG , Vac adv is NOT a power adder or a drivability feature , so if you want to save a bit on gas get a Vac adv Dist , BUT The Curve has to match the Combo / Usage So regardless of what you decide a Re-curve is always a good Idea

Thanks Faron.
Based on what you've posted at the Studio 54 forum, it's obvious you know distributors, and I appreciate your input.
Do you have any preference between Pertronix and MSD?
-
On a Mild Combo , and for the Money, A regular Pertronix I is Hard to beat ( Its what I have in My Truck ) Keep the Points and condenser in the Glove Box and its a great Backup , for more firepower a Duraspark dist and a GM ( yes GM ) 4 pin module comes in second , if its something you really lean on a MSD 6series ( or Equiv ) that has the rev limiter in it is Next , all the above can benefit the addition of Brass contact Cap & rotor , 8 MM Spiral Wound wires ( Pick your MFG all are better than stock Graphite impregnated Fiberglass ) and a upgrade Coil ,Use COPPER Spark Plugs , save the Platinum for Jewelry and Iridium for The KT Boundary, Dinosaur Kill Layer As There is No advantage!! ( and a couple of disadvantages to rare earth metals in Spark Plugs ) , Also if you decide, to change it Make sure your coil is designed for the Usage , keep the Plug gaps in the .034-.040 range
