I need to have my oil pump, heads and cylinder walls worked on Monday , if all goes well the job will take 6 book hours. If not they have to cut the whole chassis open and pull everything out on the bench. I am going to ask for pics and to save the old parts to check their work LOL.
-
Did they let you keep all the old parts? :)
-
I asked them if I could do my own biopsy on them but they said I wasn't covered under shop insurance.I did get some cool pics though, it is amazing where a scope can go.

Sadly, as I get older, I'm realizing that myself....

Yup to day I go for another scope, then they remove all the temperary plumbing. But on a high note the performance shop is a mile away so I can pick up some FE goodies on the way home. That is if I can still walk LOL. I wish Winners Circle had a drive thru window.

So has your shop posted their hourly rate? Labor rates for rebuilds have kinda skyrocketed. I spent a week in a similar shop a few years back, they mailed me a copy of the bill. I recall looking at it and laughing, they were a bit steep.........

I was in surgery 6 hours, then post OP two days, 4 surgens and 4 nurses plus a anosteziologist. Then several tests and MRIs prior to surgery. And now the last third of the process has begun, recovery the Docs are predicting two months with therapy. I should add it all up but I would need an accountant to do it LOL. Imagine the car I could buy with all that cash, like a real 60s Cobra signed by Shelby himself.

With that list I'm thinkin' maybe you could buy two of 'em and afford a pretty decent trailer to get them home too :).

Or a 64 Ford car hauler with the enclosed
Race car shop trailer.

Did they give you the latest in aftermarket parts? If so you'll be faster than you ever were "back in the day"...

In regard to cost, I'm reminded that when my youngest daughter (now 26) was just a little kid, she went out for a walk with my dad. She stumbled and got a briar thorn broken off flush in the heel of her hand. We took her to the local hospital where they frittered for most of an hour before they figured-out how to get ahold of the end and pull it out. It was a wicked thing like a half-inch piece of a wooden match stick. The bill, almost all covered by Blue Cross, was for $1800 and change! For pulling a thorn!
Hope your recovery goes well! Are you getting re-painted too?

LOL funny you should say that, I have that orange surgical iodine stuff splattered all over me. It looks like they were finger painting me.

Well, believe you me the cost for finger painters has gone way up. Hard to get good help these days :). I any event, I'm pretty sure they also count the number of breaths you take while on their premises and bill you by the inhale.

No wonder I was gasping for air when I woke up, my insurance ran out LOL.

Genuinely LMAO for sure ;D ;D. Don't worry, they can give you oxygen for a nominal fee.............

I went outside for a walk today, it was warm and sunny so I let my dog run also. The fresh air and sun felt great after being locked up inside since Monday. It really took it out of me thought, I slept for most of the afternoon.

Good to hear :). When I received my overbore they "nicked" me. Getting a major overhaul like yours requires that you rebuild your own blood. Docs told me and I think they were right. Took a couple of months to get back where I needed to be.
-
I tried to drive today, I would make it to the front porch then get too tired to make it to the truck. So I just sat there for a few minutes and forgot where I was going to begin with, then go inside and take a nap. Now I know how my hound dog thinks LOL.
-
Kinda reminds you of the old show HEE-HAW, where Junior and the bunch were lying on the porch with kingfish the wonder dog talkin' about what they might do if they just got up off their hind ends ;D. Yep, yer on the mend alright, but I do not recommend the interstate. Once your Brad Penn renews you'll be good to go. Your prob'ly running about 3 weight and you need a solid 30 weight to keep things where they need to be.
-
They took away all the pain meds Monday, now all I can do is lay around. Any desire to move has long gone.
-
June 1 you'll be runnin' laps on us :D. In the meantime, lay around. Gotta finish the rebuild from the inside out, that's how it works. I remember being frustrated and feeling a bit defeated too, but that's just part of the deal. Strength to you, long as you can scratch that dog behind the ears you're doin' fine 8).

Yup taking taking a toll right know, feels like I am dead already LOL.

Couldn't help myself and went outside to work on our 1953 Golden Jubilee Ford tractor the last few days. It has been in the mid seventies the last few days and had to get some grease on my hands LOL. I started some planning for my next step with the 66 Comet body. I am looking into doing a full tube as I can install after market suspension and drive train pretty easy.I all along was wanting an independent rear end but nothing out there would hold up, then I found this mustang rear kit that has everything in one kit. It is pricy but when you consider a 9" rear with a 31 spline locker, suspension, brakes and coil over independent to boot I suppose it would be some what reasonable. .http://www.heidts.com/part/64-70-mustang-irs-independent-rear-suspension-racing-kit/
