Title: 1968 mustang convertible SOHC project
Post by: nitro98red on February 23, 2014, 10:51:44 AM
Long time lurker. My first car. 25 years later. The SOHC was a after thought now that parts are readily available. After meeting financial commitments and family commitments finally got the green light to finish the car. Got the motor mocked up and looking at starting the header fabrication this week. Have the TCP set up so it allows a little more notching of the towers.
Regards

Very cool!  One suggestion - make sure that you can get the valve covers off, over the cam and rocker assemblies, before you finalize the shock tower work.  And don't use studs in the valve cover rail unless you can pull the valve covers straight off.  On my Galaxie I've got to take the master cylinder loose to get the left side valve cover off...

Very cool project!! An SOHC....as an "afterthought"? So maybe a second guessing of yourself may lead to a BLOWN SOHC ;)

But I gotta say, those pictures are kinda small. It's like looking at Jessica Simpson....from a half mile away. ;)

Driver side header tacked up. A real challenge for sure. 80 hours so far with the mock up of PVC pipe and tacking and fitting.
