4V medium riser intakes are hard to find; I have over 50 FE intakes and I don't have one.  I had to borrow one to test for my book.

The factory intakes are expensive if in decent condition also. Is there a reason you won't consider an RPM intake? I wouldn't think a mud bogger would have any requirements for a factory intake. A gasket match and decent blend would give you comparable, if not equal or even better power. Or you could even use an iron CJ intake or Victor depending on the power level you're seeking.

Might want to widen your search to 428 Police Interceptor versions too, much more common.

im looking at a police one now . I spent 10 hours on a dual plain edelbrock   and at low end it still struggles.   44 inch tires with 513 gears x 2  . should go better I think . 554 lift   cam lift 320  duration 230 .    coae 6090 d  heads  all on a 428

With the early heads I would get a Blue Thunder with LR/CJ ports.

Survival Motorsports is a distributor for BT.

Where are you located? I have a brand new one on the shelf that I don't "need" right now.

Which Edelbrock-Performer 390, or Performer RPM?  A RPM intake will outflow just about any dual plane intake out there with proper porting.  They can be ported to flow in the 400cfm range. About the best a Performer 390 can be ported is 300-305cfm.   Joe-JDC

performer 390 I took  out as much as I could by using gasket match

It takes a LOT to get 44s moving, especially in mud! Even with the 5.13 gears, that's a lot of weight. The Performer 390 is only good for low end performance and low speed torque, so it should perform ok down low (where you say you're having a lack of power) but it would give up quickly. Really not a good intake for any kind of performance engine. Even with the gasket matching, the runners are very small. Maybe you have another issue such as timing but I'm guessing it's just the combo of a mild cam, lots of weight and huge tires.

By weight, I meant rotational weight of the tires. If you mud bog, then I'm sure you're aware of the big power loss that comes with huge tires. And I meant an initial timing and/or curve issue, not just the distributor. Those are just my opinions, so take that for what it's worth.....which usually ain't much :)

Yeah, performer 390 is definitely not the best intake for that... It's starting to max out about when your converter is just starting to lock up. A Performer RPM or BT will definitely work better.

Try 12-14 degrees initial timing, and +1 on the Performer RPM or the Blue Thunder intake.  With a 4000 stall converter you might even want to go with a good single plane intake like a Holley street dominator, or even a Victor.

That is too much money for that intake, IMO.  I bought mine for $250.  Also I agree that it is not the best performing intake; you'd be better off with the Blue Thunder manifold.
