Title: Piston help
Post by: D-kuzmen on January 31, 2014, 01:16:58 PM
Hello all, new here but not new to the fe motors.  I do have a piston question. I have a set of 390 dome pistons with a 1760p stamped in the top I have been unable to find any specs on them not even sure what brand they are.  Didn't know if anyone has come across these before I have had them for years and finally might be using them but trying to determine what my compression ratio will be.  Thanks for any help.

I just googled it and came across a guy in this blog named James. You might try asking him, but it's a few years old.

I think that is an old Speed-Pro part number from the 70's/80's
They repackaged TRW pistons back then...

The 12.5 to 1 trw part number for 390 pistons is L2292.theyr great pistons and like methanol and steel head gaskets.regular felpro goskets will blow between the back cylinders and the water jacket. bot im known to twist my moters extreamly hard as the side of a service block that hangs over my for the last 30 years will attest to.

Doug was able to do 9.20@150,with a injected 289.I would hope to be able to do that with a more or less o.e.m. 427 side oiler with your adapter a 2x4 tunnel ram.
