Here's my build. 428 A scratch C6ME-A block bored .60, stock 428 crank, stock rods, flat top pistons (compression unknown at this point). Blue Thunder 4v intake, hydraulic flat tappet Crower Power Beast cam, original Holley 428 CJ carb. Toploader 4 speed with 3.50 rear end. Here's the dizzy's I already have MSD 8594, Mallory Unilite 3755301, and a Ford single point vacuum advance with a Petronix II in it. I also have one still with points.
If you were me, would you use one of these or sell them and use the money for something else? I also have a MSD 6AL box, but not sure if it is any good.
I got a lot these parts after my Dad died, and not sure if any of these work. The engine is going into a 1969 Q code 428 CJ Mach 1 that will be street driven to shows, parades, and cruises, but probably won't see a drag strip. Might get the urge to scare a ricer every now and then though. I am slowly collecting original date appropriate parts to restore the car or at least have a restored engine to go with the car, so an original 428 CJ 4 speed dizzy will be in the future.

Either the MSD or the Mallory would work nicely, but since you already have the 6AL box, I would go with the MSD. In fact I would use it regardless because the timing springs and bushings are so easy to work with and get at. Plus it's a direct plug in to the box. I would not doubt the box is fine because MSDs quality is pretty good (epoxy filled, so moisture generally doesn't get to the electronics).
I use the same set-up on my '69 R-code Mach with a 427 2x4 SO.

I would have the Points Dist with Pertronix Recurved , and use the 200 saved for other things, yes I am a bit Biased as I recurve Dist's , But I also look at Bang for the Buck , The MSD needs recurved and its NOT a Ford Dist , if you Had no Dist its a good option , I look at all combos Like It was my Money , and that tells me what I already posted

Faron, he already has the distributors so I'm not sure where he would be saving anything. The MSD will be much easier for him to play with the timing or recurve it himself. If he doesn't have an MSD spring and bushing kit they are pretty cheap....cheaper than a Pertronix. But if factory looks are important, then indeed he may want to consider the stock distributor with a Pertronix.

From a performance standpoint the points are out of the question. The msd would be the clear winner with more voltage at the plug. Also with its multiple spark under 3000 rpm they burn cleaner helping effeciency. Recurving is an easy do it yourself. But if factory appearance is what your after the choice is already made.

My other thought was to maybe sell some of them, and use the money to buy one of the MSD Ready to Run distributors and use the 6AL box with that. WHat's your thoughts on this? Since my car has a factory tach, am I correct in assuming I'd need an MSD tach adapter?

When I was 17 we were afraid to leave points behind, best ignition ever. Now I'm running all MSD from the box to the wires, love it. Smooth and strong. Don't know about the factory tach question. Bet a quick check with MSD on thier website when you go distributor shopping would clear that right up.
