Picked up this truck November 1st. Another Arizona garage find. Best part about it is the originality including the paint etc
Crappy cell pics do not show how nice it is.
Factory 390 Truck too!
NP 435 4spd
Ranger Package
Deluxe Tutone Paint
Spare Tire
Factory Disc Brakes 12.6" Rotors
Dana 60 With a 3.54 Gear
Factory A/C
Tinted Glass
25 Gallon Fuel Tank w Standard Fuel Tank
Heavy Duty Front & Rear Springs
Camper Package
It would make a nice Shop truck or Tow Vehicle
Inside of box has only a few scratches . . .
Truck sat for years so fuel system had to be gone thru
After taking it partially apart to go thru the mechanicals its no doubt orig miles. I have never seen a 44yr Old Arizona Truck with this nice of original paint. Pretty much any AZ veh for that matter.
The old tires literally fell apart once it was moved.

Only bump was a very minor one to left front fender, I had a nice fender just need to paint it.
Check out the original finish on parts factory left bare metal. Had very light surface rust which I cleaned up. No blasting needed.
All front end parts had factory paint markings still on them.
I could not leave well enough alone so pulled the front clip for a good going thru. Front was super tight with exception to the Radius Rod and I Beam Pivot Bushings. Still were tight but a bit dry rotted so replaced them.

Pretty much went thru complete front end so it was mechanically sound.
Back together now. Those front brakes are HUGE!

Man, where are all these 67-72 pickups coming from LOL! Great looking truck, and in unbelievable shape. I used to have a 3/4 ton 2WD with the 360. You guys are making me want another one...
-
What a score! What are your plans for the truck?
-
Very cool! Here in the Midwest, those trucks were rode hard and put away wet....with lots of road salt providing some serious lightening of the gross vehicle weight :(

Its even nicer than the crappy cell phone pics show! Give me a few more weeks for some better pics . . .

I have too many trucks now and prefer the 65-66 Which I have much more parts for. I had no plans to tear this one apart but now its like the rest of my trucks scattered all over the place. Its those "MightasWell's" That keep adding up!
Plan is to sell once I get it back on road. ALready buried in it though.

Nary a pinhole on this truck. Inside the box barely has any scratches let alone rust. Original paint will look nearly new once detailed except for the drivers fender which had a parking lot bump. Very unusual for Arizona veh 44yrs old to have this nice of paint.
A bit of very thin surface rust on undercarriage chassis stuff that ford left bare metal but sheet metal is 100% solid.

A lot of work but was finally able to get the 390 back in truck . .
Still a lot of work to be done. Slowly running out of time . . .

That is a super SUPER sweet truck! The bay looks like it's better than brand new! Very nice job.
So when is it going in the classifieds? ;D

What method/products do you use to clean the underside of the hood, firewall, etc to get the years of baked on gunk off? It looks great!

Where is the dealership where you found this truck on the floor? :)

What I call "Magic Soap"
Soaps I have been mixing up for over 25yrs. Most of the time just spray on and rinse with hot water. Some times it takes a bit of wipe with a soft cloth.
If you notice the diff it made on wiring etc too. Clean everything with it. Some Items I will also use Evapo-Rust

Found abandoned from new inside the old Read Mullan Ford Dealership here in Phoenix . . LOL It was built in November 1969 but not sold until June 1970. Guess it was a bit expensive for average buyer. At first was not sure of color combo myself but now its starting to look great. Per Marti Report only 69 F250's were built in this color combo.
Few of Dash and interior
Inside of doors look NOS

Care to share the recipe, or will Tyler Durden show up for talking about making soap in too open of a manner? :-)

Beautiful! Almost worth having a fire for ;D
LOL!!
You're killing me with this stuff. I would LOVE to find one just like that to make into a period car hauler. I have a '54 COE, but to make it worthy and reliable enough (ie: with driveline parts you can actually find) for a car hauler would just cost too much.
That truck is beautiful. I passed on a couple some years back and now the prices are going up for the reasons I mentioned. Seriously regretting it now >:(

It drives so nice I cannot keep out of it . . .
Wife wanted to run to Costco, 20 mile round trip. We took the Fire Truck!
Total hoot to drive it drives so well. Stops better than my Stock '66 F100
5520 Miles on it now . . Over 100 Miles put on it already.
7.01 MPG the first Tank. But that was a lot of stop and go only 6 miles freeway @ 60-65 mph
Driving around GoodGuys, local driving not to mention for 1/2 that tank it was on 7 Cylinders.
Be nice to get 10 MPG . . LOL
The 5 spd and 2 spd rear axle make it nice for cruising.
Absolutely LOVE driving it. The Original tires take a few miles to smooth out, other than that its great.

The intent has always been to make a Ramp Truck. Just had to find the right one. Had to be a 1966 F Series that was nice enough I did not have to tear apart and paint (restore).
So I will sell the water tank and do up a nice homebuilt Ramp. I have some very nice Semi Style Aluminum 14' Ramps I will use for driving up on.
I will integrate nice storage cabinets etc. Make it look 1966-70 Era.
Truck has a 20,000 GVW so no worry about going over weight.
174" WB
Top of the line engine for 1966 F600 a 361 HD

Check out spark plugs.
Leaving show yesterday it started running very rough obviously not running proper on at least one cylinder.
What I found when pulling plugs kind of surprised me. Plugs looked very clean but #3 had a issue. LOL
Plugs were also for a FE not a FT, proper plugs installed with proper gap and it runs much much better now.
It did not really miss at first just not smooth,

Hard work with a purpose pays off. All of the detail work around the 390 just helps to show it off better, looks great 8)
