Title: R P M Air-gap dual quad fe intake
Post by: bn69stang on November 11, 2013, 06:39:50 PM
Is any one running this intake , with a pair of 600 cfm carbs ? or even a pair of 500 cfm cabs ?

I have one but haven't run it yet, you can only use Edelbrock carburetors or you have to get creative and use off set carburetor spacers and run side linkage. The stock linkage will not work so a new plate will have to be welded to the original to align it properly. The rise is nothing drastic but getting a air cleaner is, the only one that fits is an Edelbrock which is 2/14 high element just like the 427 air cleaner. If you get creative you can fabricate your own like I did, I used two 14" air cleaners and welded them together. This made an 18" round / 4" tall filter fit ( I used a K&N)........Jon

I ran one during my intake testing.  It did pretty well, making over 500 HP on my 390 stroker dyno mule.  The only drawback, as Jon says, is that you have to use Edelbrock carbs, and they are not spaced properly for a vintage oval air cleaner.  I think the carbs might limit the manifolds performance on a higher HP engine, but for an engine in the 400-500 HP range its is a very good intake.
