Post by: talladega on October 25, 2013, 10:29:46 AM
Hi all
Have a chance to buy a 65 Falcon with a puked 302/C4 setup.  How big a deal to put a FE/C6 in?
Thanks

I think the biggest issue will be the shock towers; they will have to be moved outboard to fit the FE.

If you research the work necessary to convert a '64 Fairlane to being a Thunderbolt, you'll have a pretty good idea regarding what'll have to be done. Detail differences for sure, but...

If you should decide to go forward with such a project. there are those of us who've done something similar and will be happy to offer 'tips'.

Crites has a complete kit for the swap including template to modify shock towers. Difficulty will depend on your skill and tools you have.

I recently acquired a 64 Falcon Futura 2dr sedan...Its a project the P/O bailed on..He did however put a Heidts front end in it...The resulting mods leave the engine bay big enough for anything you want...I don't have to feel bad about cutting the towers out.....I will be powering it with a nice little 70 351C 4spd that I have.....Cory

Thanks for the replies.  After doing the research suggested here I just bought a 1969 Falcon roller.  Should make life a lot easier.  Thanks again.

Crites makes kits for the Falcon. You have to shave the shock towers with the kit... Here is a link for ya

Actually I've found that '66 through '70 Falcon's engine compartments have same dimensions as Torinos; so this swap is bolt in.  Will post in members projects as things progress.

Good move on going with the 1969 Falcon, I'm doing a 1967 and going to power it with a Blair Patrick 428/toploader combination. Not too many folks do this conversion but due to the fact that most Fairlane, Torino, Comet parts of that timeframe crossover you have lots of options.  I didn't touch the shocktowers as it fit fine during the mockup. I ordered one of Jay's intake adaptors and considering using it in this project. How about a tunnelram in there, I'm thinking that's the ticket.  There is an article floating around from the 70's titled "You Could Do This Swap in Your Sleep" concerning this process which includes Ford part numbers used in the swap. Paul Mastro has a 454 stroker in his, with an MII front end- lots of room, and a serious sleeper
Or, you could do this...
