BHJ makes two deck plates for the FE. One for up to 428 bore and the other is for 427. I have the smaller bore size plate. Is there any reason why the smaller plate cannot be bored to accommodate a 427?
thanks,
Mark

Yes you can, we did my first one that way, use it all the time on big bore stuff up through 4.375
Then I ended up buying one for the 427-ish bores and one for the small bores.
BTW, they work great for pressure testing too

I believe "BHJ" is no more.

There are other deck plate companies, plus my local buddy can knock them out quick on the Centroid, especially if someone wants "Bullock's Power Service" ground into the edge. I'll get a rush order done for those :)

Thanks Ross, after boring the deck plate, were there any problems using it on the smaller cylinder bores?

Mark, I bored mine from 4.23 to 4.375, so I felt I was getting close to the edge with smaller gaskets. I like to make sure I clearly cover the fire ring of the gasket when compressed, but as long as you are small enough to do that it shouldn't matter.
I ended up with 2 more over time, but I could have likely got by with one more. I have 2 sitting in the hone rack, and usually use the last one as a pressure tester
