I built this engine for a ‘64 Rayson Craft V-drive boat that I have. We just ran it on the dyno. I like it so good, I think I am going to do some more of these, so I am going to sell this one. Here’s what it is……started life as a standard bore 390 block. Honed to 4.062. CP pistons, Molnar 6.540 length FE rods. 3.5 stroke iron crank. .600 lift, 240/248-112 very streetable hyd roller with Crower HIPPO solid rollers, tight lash. 9-10 inches vacuum at idle. BBM heads, 2.150/1.660 valves. T&D single shaft rockers, PAC springs, Manton pushrods. Canton street/strip T-pan, screen windage tray. 11:1 static CR but it tolerates 93 octane. New Duraspark distributor custom curved, with a little bit of vac advance. TFS tunnel wedge, and two 550 cfm Low Riser clone carbs I got from AFS.
Peak torque 440 at 4600 rpm . Peak power 509 at 6900 rpm. Lots of nice parts in a driveable combo. I think it would be outstanding in a Cobra, or other manual shifted street car. It’s a 500 hp piece that is easy on gas when you are not into it. It cruises nice at 2500-3000 rpm with light load on my dyno. We put several pulls on it, and tuned it for WOT and also for light cruise and idle manners. $17500 ready to go in the crate. If interested, email me at blairpatrickfe at gmail dot com. Thanks
