A friend brought it by to see if I could find info on it. Numbers stamped on rear journal are HIT-290-NC and 34 26 91. Has been run a short time but lobes and all look in very good condition.
He wants to run it in a 390 he is building and I told him if so buy the BEST lifters you can find thru Bullet cams or Howards and make sure they spin freely in the bores. He does not have the original lifters. Thanks for any help. Now I could set it up in my lathe with my cam check setup but thought I would check here first and determine whether it is a hyd. or solid grind.

HIT-290-NC
I would check here first and determine whether it is a hyd. or solid grind.
It is a "hydraulic" grind. One of the "High-Intensity" series.
Specifications:
290 adv. x 234 @ .050" x .563" lift x 114 L.C.L. (symmetrical)
Actual Part Number: 344621; But note, it seems that Crane apparently reused that number later for a different grind! ;)
