Hey guys has anyone ever heard of a 427 SOHC engine pushing 800 hp on pump gas?

Yes.
This one was 11.5:1 and would run/does run on pump premium.
I'm sure Jay has some as well....

I've had a 510" and 530" SOHC both go over 800, and my big one (585") went 935 HP at first, and then 960 HP when I switched to a distributorless ignition.  Dyno data for the big SOHC is at the link below:

I have heard rumors of some SOHC spinning at up to 8000 rpm!! Is that true?

8000 RPM is not that tough for an SOHC, especially with lightweight valves; been there quite a few times, even with heavy valves. Especially for a smaller engine, 9000 RPM is not beyond the realm of possibility.

Nice Dyno sheet's it shows just like Dyno Don told me after building a stroker Cammer at about 7000 it is all done. He ran his 427's about 7500 Max wow that was a real long time ago.
It is always nice to straighten out a problem like with your first ignition and get all the power out that was in the engine. Day's on the Dyno like that make you forget about all the hours and hours of time spent on the Dyno. Well almost! LOL
