Post by: Royce on March 01, 2026, 11:00:30 AM
Anybody know a good tool or method for removing that long fragile stainless trim without mangling it?

Although I have never personally done it or needed to, I was told by people that have done it many times to use a "church key" bottle/can opener. Using the bottle end wrapped in tape to avoid damaging the surface, very gently pry up on the lower lip. Take your time and you should be able to remove the trim without damage.

Agreed... I took the stainless roof rail trim off my 68 Fastback useing a old sunripe (sp) can opener. I used the square end. Be warned.. It is just as hard to put back on.

I wonder how the factory installed them without plowing paint and primer. Maybe some kind of reverse can opener?
