Title: HS rockers

In the instructions it says lateral clearance should be ".008-.012 bolt to bolt". Does that mean move every thing in one direction until against the stand, then measure at the stand in the other direction?
Am I correct in assuming that HS has shims of various thickness' to get proper clearance and to align roller wheel with valve stem tip?

Correction: .015-.020 bolt to bolt.

Yes, that is a total clearance between the rocker stands by pushing both rockers and the spacer to one side and measuring.

Harland used to provide flat ground spacers to use so that they would line up with either the closer valve spacing of most all FE heads, or the wider valve spacing of the MR, HR and TP heads, depending on where you put the spacer. Not sure if they are available separately or not. I used to use valve spring seats, the flat ground hardened type, when I was young and used what was available. They fit the shaft perfectly. If I recall correctly, they were small block chevy pieces, but I won't swear to it.

POP has shims (usually sends them along with either their stands or spacers, can't remember. .015, .030, and .060. Mix and match till you get the required spacing. Brent has a "how to" video that's pretty explanatory.

I have found out that it is best, at least for me to install the rocker assemblies and measure for the clearance. I bench set up my clearances, installed the H/S rocker assemblies. less than 100 miles later I broke a rocker. I had zero clearance at the broken rocker. Once I set clearance, installed I've had zero issues.
