Title: Weight of aluminum SOHC
Post by: cammerfe on August 31, 2013, 08:48:41 PM
Without spending days at it, I've spent some time trying to get an accurate number as to the weight of an all-aluminum SOHC engine. Does anyone have definitive info on this?

My 585 inch all aluminum SOHC weighed 535 pounds, with water pump and flywheel, but without alternator or headers.

For reference purposes what does an equally dressed iron cammer weigh?
I'm going to guess 150 more.

I don't have that data, but the block alone is 110 pounds more, and I'd guess the heads to be at least 30 pounds more each.  I would also guess an all iron SOHC would weigh close to 750 pounds.
