Title: Medium Riser Head Project - Update
Post by: mbrunson427 on February 13, 2025, 11:23:03 AM
This is set #001. We had a couple initial sets cast so we could machine them and make sure the casting design is solid. So far it has worked out very well, I think we need to tweak the water jackets in a couple locations, but no show stoppers!

This MR set is now ready for all the thread inserts, valve guides, and valve seats. The machining on the tunnelport head is happening right now, so that set isn't far behind.

We have a 496" short block in the shop ready to bolt heads on to. The plan is to dyno with the MR set, and then with the TP set. We're getting closer every day to calling this project "complete". Has been a long time coming.

I have a brand new SO block they would be perfect for, and then a 67 Cougar to put the engine in.

Hey Mike what was the fix for the port problem just a little less porting or a new design. They look great.

I'm trying to remember the issue... maybe the iron TP head that we tried to CNC? The new head has material in that location where the iron head broke through, so that's been taken care of. That was caused by core shift in the factory iron heads. Bad day.

Are you publishing any specs on these heads?

We have some info on our site. All the data on there is based upon the prototype head, which was an edelbrock pro-port head that was welded on and modified. The tunnelport data is based on our 3D printed ports.

After these heads are complete, we will flow them, cc them, etc. and I will update the website.

Thank you.  With that 2.30" I valve, how would these do on a 428 bore?  Again, thanks for your efforts.

These will fit a 4.13 bore easily. 4.08" bore will still fit but may be lift limited.

Once we get these fully complete, they will go on my 445" short block and we'll determine how the 4.08" bore works out.
