Did Ford ever put a C-6 behind a 427?

What was behind the automatic T Bolts

A special version of the large case 430 Lincoln HX cast iron Cruise-O-Matic with a unique HX-7976 convertor housing (bellhousing) to mate it to the FE. Same for the automatic equipped Lightweight Galaxies I believe.

I think Ohio George had the same trans behind his Supercharged SOHC.  Thanks for sharing the article!!!!

To add a little to this trans, I had a '58 410 MEL and used that large XH case in my '60 Galaxie, in back of a 300 horse, 352.

The early MEL bells bolted to the FE and the 410 version, at lest, had the 31 spline out put shaft. I know that because I had to shorten the MEL drive shaft, to fit my wheel base.

According too Ohio George, he started out adapting his hydro-Stick transmission to the SOHC. THE problem was the Willys was a real handful with the SOHC ,engine, so Ford's Charlie Gray told him they would build a C6, so he could keep both hands on the steering wheel. He used a C6 after that in the Willys and the Mustang. George said it shifted gears at over 8000rpm, and was reliable.  I believe Gas Ronda's Mustang also had a C6 behind the SOHC.
George was a good talk at the Fe reunions, and  he told me the Mustang was like driving a Rolls Royce, down the track compared to the Willys. The Willys is in the Henry Ford museum collection.
