Title: porting for Blue thunder high riser heads
Post by: Wortttie on December 21, 2024, 06:15:06 PM
Hello All.  I am looking for a head porter that is familiar with the Blue Thunder High Riser heads.  I have a virgin set still new in the box.  If anyone is aware of anyone that has done or is willing to discuss porting my heads I am very interested in contacting these porters.

PS. I have, in the past communicated with Barry Robotnick who had the port work done on my Blue Thunder Medium Riser heads.  He relayed that his head porter went out of business that DID the high riser heads.  Barry is a great guy and I would use him but as it stands to my knowledge he is not interested in doing these heads.  Also, I have discussed this with Blair Patrick and he is not interested in doing the heads either.

Thank You

It's not a matter of "interest".
It's a matter of two local CNC guys, and one distant guy that had the digital patterns for these all going out of business.
I might still have a test head around here somewhere if someone wanted to digitize it (not sure)

I don't have a program for BT heads, but a good CnC guy and a sharp local porter that helps me with odd stuff

The work involved is pretty high to scope then digitize.  We are digitizing lots of stuff.  I usually cover the CnC prep cost for use of it later, customer just pays for porting, but not sure there will be a later with BT head. , For one-off like BT probably better to just port them by hand for use,

Feel free to PM or email, depending where you are from I know lots of other guys that could be close to you too.

My BT High Risers were ported by R&R Performance in Spring Lake Park, MN, randrperformance.com.  They did a great job, the intake flowed 401@.800 on their bench and 390@.800 on Barry's bench.  This is hand porting, not CNC.  Not cheap and not fast, but they are my regular shop and they do a great job - Jay

Hello Barry

I hope you don't think that I thought you had no interest.  What I was trying to relay is that to do a one off set of heads would not justify a need for a CNC program which is a logical business decision.   I respect your knowledge and service.  I would like to request if you do have a head with the porting done to one port set I would be very appreciative to be able to use this to get digitized and then return to you.  I don't expect this request to be free and would like to discuss with you the cost of using this sample head.

Thank you

If you ever decide to abandon this I'd give a lesser used body part for these heads...
