Title: comp cam's camshaft lash

What I would like to know is a comp cam's camshaft spec card is lash listed cold or hot? I have always set mine cold and never had a problem as it is quite a job to remove my valve covers and the other things I need to do to set lash even when cold. But I would like to know how comp cams wants you to do it.

Almost positive it’s hot unless it specifically says cold on the card. In general if setting cold 2 thousandths tighter for steel head and cast block,,,7 thousandths for aluminum head cast block
And depending on your clearances around 14 thousandths aluminum block and heads.
I’m sure someone will either confirm or correct me but those are real good ballpark figures.

Lash is always hot lash.

       with rollers always set to the tight side-- never loose-- some cam techs. will tell you a fairly large range tighter--set too loose and pound a roller is a good way to hurt engine--bad !

Good advice...flat tappets too, the acceleration ramp is more gentle, don't want to take up lash on the steep part of the lobe

I set hot, leave the covers off, check cold the next day and note the difference. Then just check/set cold from then on.

I found what many have on here. Iron block, iron heads, standard rockers = zero diff. Iron block, alloy heads, standard rockers = .006 tighter cold. Iron block, alloy heads, Erson rockers = .007 tighter cold.
